No they weren't. Don't re-show the crash. It's that simple. That's what is causing the problem. And they knew it would.

Thus the reason I asked if they purposely tried to pull a Sopranos.

Even today some are sure Tony is dead and others don't think he is.

They wanted to stick it to us with that last shot of the plane.

What we are seeing in the "alt" timeline is a flash forward to when all the characters have died and are living in the afterlife. They are then able to move on to the "light" that Jack had preserved.

So we go back to Aaron going to heaven as a baby, that blows.

so he dies as a fetus and still makes it into heaven. LOST is pro-life.

How hard is this to
understand.? Why would Aaron still be a baby if he grew up?

because there is no now??

I don't see why they would be so important to each other if they died in the crash.

basically shows a clip from episode 1 this season, where the plane is hitting turbulance - jack is making his faces and that in essence he is going through the whole "acceptance" in a matter of seconds and dies right there

i didnt get/understand/like this at all.

That's the discussion on the table.

And the problem is the plane crash scene at the end. One....little....scene.

No way...Hurley? Really?

He and Jack were the two front runners, and Jacob was a big enough frick up to where I would trust Hurley more with the Island than Jacob.

Why were there not any bodies or skeletons by the crash next to the wreckage? There was a colorful cloth from the camp.

The last crash scene was a nugget for those fans who can't "let go" of the show to chew on. It was almost like the writers were telling US to let go.

Let's throw this out there.

The writers did it because they were to lazy and afraid to take a stance on the ending, and pulled the old "let's leave it to the viewers interpetation of what happened" gimmick.

how could an entire show be jack's acceptance of death while completely focusing on other characters and their flashbacks

I think a lot of you missed the point. Everyone was dead by the time the plane crashed. There were no survivors of Oceanic 815. The most important times of their lives were spent together on the island, which was a venue upon which they could right their wrongs. Purgatory, if you will.

The last shot of the show was not a red herring at all.

Solid explanation for the counter point.

If they are all dead in the crash, then all that important time is not really a part of their "lives"

well considering they had no idea they would write in a "flash sideway" when they were denying the purgatory ending makes this argument weak

How would they know how many seasons they were getting? The flash-sideways was a way for them to end the series how they always wanted to (I'm guessing).

Whoever said the theory about Jack accepting death I think was spot on. And it was purgatory, the island and the side-flashes. Once the last one of them (Jack) accepted death, they could all go to heaven.
