that is what we, as the audience, here them tell everyone else. doesn't mean that it was actually a tumor. Or, that the tumor didn't grow around a bullet, or as a result of the gun shot wound.

Sayid talks to Jin. Tells Jin that Sawyer let him go, Jin then hears that the prisoner escaped on his radio. Sayid tells him that they don't know that Sawyer let him go, they think he escaped and he needs to get moving. Jin says, "let me talk to him first," and calls for Sawyer on the radio.
Sayid then disables Jin using fancy ninja skills.
Ben then says, let's go.
Sayid then shoots lil' Ben.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

Yes, Jack said it was a tumor at the time so I don't get the connection although I do expect Jack to operate on the child Ben and save him.

I was suggesting that the gunshot wound and the tumor aren't necessarily related. Just the fact that Ben knows how good of a surgeon Jack is.

It was definitely a tumor. Remember Jack saw the X-ray and told Juliet that the guy with that X-ray didn't have much time left.

The next two episodes seem to continue with the killing of Ben theme. "Whatever Happened, Happened" could mean that yes, Ben lives and that's how it had been all along. Then "Dead is Dead", who knows what that could mean.

Also who else thinks that Sayid is the "purge"? Just doing "what he's good at".
Ben in the van with the gas-mask killing his dad. Ben at Dharmaville walking around with a gas-mask on as everyone was dying. Ben closing Horace's corpse's eyes (he died on a bench).
There were other hostiles/others there too so I guess Sayid could play a role, but we already know how the purge happened.

Oh yeah. Forgot about that scene. Sorry about that.

If you buy into the Daniel time logic, whatever happened already happened and can't be changed.
This means all this happened already.

quote:Meh - one thing that I always hate about this board is people flat out telling other people their theories are wrong because if LOST has taught me anything it's that you can NEVER be sure of the truth about this show.
Sorry about that.
Who knows, maybe there is some misdirection going on and Sayid will play a large roll in the purge (I will never call anyone's theories about this show wrong )

Speaking of Daniel...when the hell is he coming back?

The purge has to happen but it does not have to happen exactly the way it did previously. The details can change. Sorta like Charlie dieing. He had to die but the way he died didn't matter. That being said, I think Sayid could take over Ben's role in leading the purge. Then the major question would be, What happens to old Ben if young Ben is killed? All the things that Ben caused would still have to happen but they would be initiated by someone else.

Hmmmm.
Does anyone else think that it is possible that the 815ers are changing the future? Last week,
Dharmaville looked like it was abandoned for a long time. It still had all the signs and pictures of the Dharma people hanging up. I do not recall ever seeing that when the Others took control. You would think they would have removed all the signs and pictures so they wouldn't have to answer questions by the people that ben brought to the island.
Ben is currently "seriously injuried" in the future. I've seen Ben get the crap beat out of him in the past so why is he so injuried from being knocked out? I think the shooting of little Ben changed the future.
Why was Peter Chang so warm and fuzzy in the recruiting center? It seems like he knows everyone so how can he get away with (and use) so many aliases (sp?) in the orientation videos?

This is worth looking into a little bit. Not necessarily by one person but perhaps by a group (the O6)? Sayid leads the purge, Jack becomes the leader of the Others, etc.
I don't think that will be it but what the hell do I know?

This'll be fun to see how it all plays out.
Sidenote: Ben better not really be dead 'cause I love that dude.

You make a good point and out of all the theories, I hope the writers go w/ this b/c I think it would make a great storyline.

I'm not as convinced as others that a the "purge" still takes place. There were earlier references by Charles Whidmore, to Locke, that he was vital to the "war" on the island. All we have seen so far is a state of truce between the hostiles and Dharma. I guess the assumption could be made that the truce came after the war, but it would seem unlikely that the writers would pass on the opportunity to exploit an actual war.
I also don't buy the whole "what has happened has happened and you can't change it" theory. If this were the case, then why are Whidmore and Ben fighting so hard in the future to manipulate what will happen in the past?
