Ahh that's right. So they tried to correct their mistake. At least they didn't leave it out there without even commenting on it.

There is not a chance in hell that he is dead. Just, IMO.

Alright since everyone thought I was being serious in the "ho hum" post, I'll come out and say it. I LOVED this episode.

Some people won't like it, but I particularly like the way Jack's character is behaving now. IMO he's kind of like Desmond in the sense that he's comfortable with whatever happens. He's definitely not as "in-the-know" as Desmond seems to be, but he's definitely not that wild cry baby running around the island trying to fix everything in his own uniquely retarded way. He's trying to change for the better.

Hurley, who has been on the sideline most of the series has changed in that he is a leader now. He's an unlikely leader, but a leader nonetheless.

I'm kind of a mushy, "soul-mate" believing kinda guy so I loved the Hurley/Libby sideflash.

Someone said it in an earlier thread this season about how this show might turn out to be about how "love conquers all" because of the Penny/Desmond thing and now we've got the Hurley/Libby love playing out. It's pretty clear how the writers feel about love. I wonder who the next love story will be about? Kate and Sawyer would be my guess. I think Jack is going to have to end up alone. "He walks among us, but he is not one of us."

Anyone who complains about this episode needs to find a new show. These last few weeks have been amazing. You're not going to find anything much better than this.

A couple of observations:

1. There is absolutely no mention of Hurley winning the lottery in this episode that I saw. I thought he mentioned it on the plane; maybe he was being figurative.

2. All four people that go see Locke (Hurley, Lapidus, Kwon, and Jack) are candidates (Sun is a maybe). That may mean all 6 candidates are with Locke now as he wanted. The other two possibly being Sawyer and Sayid or Kate.

Meh. Kate and Jack get all bright-eyed every time they see each other. Sawyer is still too busy hating the world.

Quick Thoughts....

Was it just me or did Flocke have that "just as I hoped for" look in his eye when Hurley and the gang showed up. Slight look of a justified smirk,

And what's the deal with Ilana, she tells us one minute that she's been training her whole life for this and then she blows up. Think they'll tie that loose end up?

True. Kate did seem to light up when she saw Jack.

I guess it's because I've been watching old episodes. Sawyer and Kate had some serious chemistry. I guess in the sideflash Sawyer and Juliette could hook back up, but I just never thought they were right together. Just a personal preference.

early thoughts:

Desmond's number waiting for chickin' was 42 - that's Kwon, it's so disambiguous with the rest of the episode, it's something - I dont know what, but there's some meaning there

Besides her nice tits, the Libby angle was meh

The fact that Hugo didnt take Libby's grave stick and stab Michael in the eye is disappointing

The little boy in the forest was MIB as a youngin'

that's not the same well as the donkey wheel, it's a completely different well

It was very curious, that Desmond took Flocke's hand to be helped up - he's immune to the poo-poo water like qualities of the MIB love tap

Desmond knows full well that's not John Locke

With all this magnetism going on, I fully expected some X-Men like scene where Desmond is hovering 2 ft from the well floor as there is some fricked up north/south pole thing going on, like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. He's not dead by any stretch, I'd be surprised if he was even injured

and the final scene: Desmond ran over Locke for two reasons- (1) Desmond knows (in some weird way) Locke is evil & (2) he did just throw him down a well. Dont forget, these things happen simultaneously

this episode was still pretty good but it has alot to live up to epsically the way last week was i don't think it was as good as richard centric and Desmond centric but this may have been the best ending we've seen in a long time

Kinda hard to do when there's no string left...

As I mentioned, he got the 4 candidates he needed and didn't even have to try. Sure he is happy. Every bit of common sense says that they should have blown up the plane and not spoken to Locke.

Well her job is done. Plus, she is a dumb bitch for carrying around dynamite in her purse like it is make-up.

I'm rewatching the episode now, and I saw something that may seem trivial to some, but it looks to be very essential for me: Dr. Chang has both hands in tact. We saw at the end of the Incident what happened to one of them. This could be hinting at the bomb didn't cause the split.

That is very big; they wouldn't have screwed that up. It is possible he saw a top-notch doctor off Island or something, but otherwise it means that the nuke didn't set off the timeline.

Also, I was sure he found enough evidence prior to the last episode that the incident couldn't have caused the split (like Ben coming to the Island)

Possibly...even so, it's still one of the three places where the EM is concentrated.

I'm not sure if this is the case even though there seems to be some cause & effect between the two realities. Flash-sideways is in 2004. Original timeline is now in 2007.

Is there any canonical evidence that the bomb actually split things?

Possibly

definitely

the donkey wheel is under a Dharma station, and the well is covered up, buried under ground, in a heavily wooded area

Flocke said "they didnt find what they were looking for" - if they shoved a wooden wheel into the side of an ice wall 20ft below ground, they found what they were looking for

MIB surely wouldnt shove Desmond down a well where he knew the wheel was - he could frick up the whole thing for him
