This thread - good fricking grief...epic meltdown. Just got done reading everything and I think I have a few things to add but I'm going to wait until I rewatch the episode later tonight.
In short, I liked the episode even though I was expecting more. I do think they gave us everything we need to know in order to frame how the show is going to end...but more on that later.

So why doesn't Jacob age anymore? He aged from when he was born until he turned 30-40ish. I might think that drinking the wine caused it, but most believe it was symbolic.
Did Jacob's inability to age come at birth from his "mother". Maybe? I guess they weren't gonna have an infant walking around for eternity. Where did his power to give Richard eternity come from. Why can he stroll on and off the Island and MIB can't?
This episode would have been so much better had it spent 30 minutes on 32 AD - 2004 AD

I took it as an almost direct correlation with Catholicism.
The number of Catholic references in this show are countless.

Just FYI, I decided to get one of those greenman costumes, half black/half white, for the finale.

She even said "Take this cup and drink it" which is what is said during communion

FWIW, other than Sayid brifly mentioned as Muslim (he sort of has to be), catholics are really the only religion mentioned as best I can tell. The following characters have catholic ties:
1. Yemi/Eko - Catholic priest(s)
2. Charlie- went to confession
3. Hurley - very Catholic family
4. Locke's dad - Catholic funeral
5. Richard - Catholic - confessed to priest
6. Ana Lucia?
7. Wasn't it a Catholic Church that they met to find a way back on the Island?

MIB was just screwed over by a crazy mom and a momma's boy.
Im not convinced that MIB and the Brother are the same thing. The brother was screwed, without a doubt. The smoke (or the evil part of the island) just uses the brother's appearance when he speaks with Jacob. Therefore, we do have a true antagonist, the smoke.

The brother is dead. So, people who feel sorry for current smoke person/locke shouldnt. Its not the same guy who was laid to rest with his mother. Part of the brother's soul could still be with the smoke I guess, but its the smoke itself that represents the evil, not the brother.

This is interesting.
What has been said about the mother killing all those people? Seriously, how the hell did she fill in the well and kill those peeps?

I think Adam's ego is still present with Smokie/MIB. He is still alive in that sense.

Most here think she had some smoke monster type ability.
I like how we see that she was responsible for the first Purge on the Island. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Thinking back, how was Ben able to summon Smokie last season? He's always been on Team Jacob, it seems odd that pulling a lever in his house can call out Smokie.

Then why did Titus Welliver tell Richard that Jacob took his humanity and his body? Richard did not know him and had not seen him before so it wouldn't have made a damn bit of diffence to him. MIB is Jacob's brother and he became the smoke after he was thrown into the cave with the light. That much was pretty clear.

Well, there may be some Locke "residue" inside of MIB, but I think that it is still mostly Adam's ego in control.
Would love to see the real Locke break through though...kind of like in the end of Exorcist III.

Ben thought he was team jacob, but i think smokie was pulling his strings. ie, the "help me" in the cabin...Jacob didn't need help, smokie needed help.

"You can't tell me what I can or can't do"
If that's not John Locke, I don't know what is.

Im not sure about this either. This is evidence that she had smoke characteristics. As well as the fact that the brother killed the mother with the dagger without her saying her word. The same way Sayid was supposed to kill Locke. However, there is no hard evidence. When the brother became smoke, his body remained. Where is the mother's body? Why would a smoke mother raise kids to protect the Island? Why wouldnt she used the smoke to kill everyone else before? I think how she destroyed the village may be answered better at the end.
