yeah yeah yeah. I get it. I've scoured the lostpedia boards and I am fairly caught up on most of the major story lines but this adam and eve crap doesn't seem to wash in the grand scheme. IMO>

deals with the mythology of the island - who was there before - deals with time travel (like hurley said what if one of these skeleton's are us)

if adam and eve are losties, then its either rose and bernard because its easy to make them the answer or its jack and someone...
i say jack because when he found the black and white rocks in their pockets he took them and held on to them... so if its one of them he would have to find the rocks in the future/original time line, therefore they must be put there, therefore jack held on to the pebbles went back in time with them died in the cave and some years later he finds the pebbles on his dead body from the past.

Yes, the black and white rocks should be a key as to who A&E are...and the last time we saw them Jack put them in his pocket. If the show want to maintain a semblance of consistency, they need to show the black and white stones again but I'm not sure they will do this. Imagine Jack saying, "Hey, look at these two rocks I've forgotten that I had in my pocket since Season 1!" Not sure if the rocks will be part of the time loop...we might get to see where the rocks originally come from though.
I found it interesting that the rocks were in the painting that someone posted earlier in the thread.
