That explanation makes sense. But I would like to have seen the writers actually make an effort in explaining the smaller things.

Ben might have had a deal with MiB, but then he would have been trying to kill Jacob.
That's all I got.
That's all I got.

explain how Ben was able to control the smoke monster in the cabin.
control?
or summon?
because, it seemed that Ben knew if he didnt run his arse off soon, he was going to be next
and I also have to agree that the tidal wave destroying the statue, the ship landing in the middle of the island, the stone statue being destroyed, and leaving the ship basically in-tact was weak - very weak

I've read some peoples' theories which suggested that the storm may have been caused by the island moving (if not caused - at least increased the storm's intensity). This could affect the amount of damage to the statue as well as facilitate leaving the ship farther inland (like sliding a coaster under a glass).

I love how people spend the majority of their free time researching and coming up with theories. But I admit last summer I was heavily into lostpedia and LOST blogs. I frankly just don't care anymore.

I generally don't delve other than to read this thread after I've watched my DVR'd episode when I get off work at 2am or so. I was hoping to find a screen cap (if one exists) of what the guy could see outside of the ship (i.e. - the "Devil Guardian).

Yeah that was pretty bad.
Also it might have been discussed but why do yall think Jacob defended himself against Richard? We all thought because he let Ben stab him it was because he didn't want to influence anyone and let free will reign. However that theory kind of took a turn for the worse when he started beating the shite out of Richard IMO. Thoughts?

I stopped reading all the theories a couple of seasons back. It really is more enjoyable a show if you just watch it from week to week without worrying about every little plot hole.

They answered the single most important question I've had through this whole thing and I liked the answer. It's something that has been theorized ad nauseum but I don't think it takes away from it at all. Awesome episode.
Well, what question is that? I would like to know. Does it have anything to do with that theory that you came up with yesterday?

I am cool with the statue and black rock explanations. A sunami like wave could definately do that. As far as Jacob attacking Richard. He had to protect himself since at that point he was the only protector and there were no candidates that we know of on island

Jacob knew Ben most of his life, he thought he would do the right thing - richard was just this crazy knife wielding Spaniard - he had to whip dat arse

Yeah, it could, but the Black Rock would shredded completely when it hit the statue, not the other way around.

So are we all in agreement that MiB can either take smoke form or Locke form and nothing else?
The only reason I ask is because when Ben went to get judged by the smoke, MiB could transform into Alex. So just taking Locke's form when he came back to the island wasn't enough to make him "stick" in Locke form.
The only thing that could have made Locke stuck is when Jacob was killed. But I'm not sure how that works.
If Ilana is wrong about MiB being stuck as Locke, then MiB can still do some major league manipulation and might even be able to appear as Jacob
You are right!

You can find the spoilers, but it takes away from the joy of watching LOST

Great episode last night!! but for what reason did Jacob bring the Black Rock to the island? It wasnt for a list of candidates, there were no survivors after MIB went through the ship, except for Richard. Did he bring the ship there just for Richard? He didnt seem to be in his plans until after he beat the shite out of him and talked to him a bit
