No. I am just not going to carry the water for BS.

n the book, the Rangers find Luttrell in the forest as he and Gulab walk back to the village after Gulab spoke with Ahmad Shah. (This is when they settle down for tea.)

I'm sorry you went into the movie expecting a documentary.

get the frick out of here….
It was based on a true story..
not marketed as…this is a documentary of everything that happened play by play.
Either you're trolling or have no clue what happens in Hollywood

There's a thread on p.2 that raises some of the same questions and has responses with various viewpoints. But to address your main complaint:
In Hollywood, the words "based on a true story" should not make you think you're watching an actual true story. I think "We Were Soldiers Once... and Young" is a great example. The movie followed the book very closely, until the final climactic (aka - BS) battle scene.

Let's see... They changed major aspects of the story, like Marcus dies, almost gets decapitated, and a major battle at the end. The movie was tabbed as a true story.
Saving Private Ryan, and Act of Valor are my favorite war movies. I wanted to love this movie but realized quick what Hollywood did to the story. I mean hollywood is so damn clueless they think BUDS graduates are SEALs.

Did a SEAL bang your girl or something? Hollywood took liberties with both of your favorite movies.

We've had this same discussion about five times since the movie came out.
1. Yes it has major errors.
2. It's still an entertaining movie.
3. Despite the inaccuracies, they are all still heroes.

I wouldn't even call them major errors. They did what they had to do to tie in the book and make it a fricking movie. If it's were word by word, we'd all still be sitting there on day 3 watching Marcus drag his legs up 7 miles of mountain.
Nothing says Hollywood like Rangers sitting down for tea to wrap a movie!
ETA: not directed at you, Geaux

The first words that pop up on the big screen say "Based on a True Story."
Never once does it claim to be 100% factual.

As well as a movie that took a lot of liberties with the actual battle while proclaiming it as a true story.

The ethos was there, not so much with this one.

In the book, Marcus (he had a Hospital Corpsman rating) said he'd spent time volunteering at the Bagram base hospital. When he walked down the ramp of the C-130 that returned him to Bagram he said a couple of the nurses who knew him burst into tears when they saw his condition (all fricked up and 37 lbs lighter). That might have been a good ending. Or when they flew out the caskets of Murphy and Dietz.

Possibly. But the movie wouldn't have worked had they stuck to the facts regarding his eventual rescue. It would have been boring seeing him crawling along the ground for 7 miles, being picked up by the villagers, and sitting around for 4 days before getting picked up.
The climax, while never having happened, was a good ending.

I LOVED that movie, up until the bullshite ending. If Hollywood had any sense, they would have shown the troop withdrawal from LZ X-Ray and set up a sequel movie based on the battle at LZ Albany.

What the frick?
How does a movie have errors?
By error, you're saying Berg accidentally shot a battle scene at the end.
He did it for entertainment purposes.
You do realize Berg worked in conjunction with ML and the families? I listened to a podcast where he said he wanted to make sure it was as true to form as possible. Does that mean he can't add anything? No.
It was a great movie.
For everyone expecting a doc, why even pay money for to sit in the theatre?
