We just finished the series. Not bad. Got a little corny at times. FYI, we have some good friends who's daughter was in that series.

I watched episode 1.

I never read the books nor watched the other TV show.

So far it is just a good, clean show. A little predictable but so are sitcoms (which are often good clean shows).

No one else in my household has any interest in the show. So it would probably be something I put on in the background when im on tigerdroppings.

I've never read the books, what is problematic about them? The old show was about as wholesome as a show could ever be.

Christianity, White Anglo-Saxons, the pioneer spirit, clear good guys and bad guys, Protestant work ethic, intact families with a strong father figure….

Started this last night and finished first two episodes. I am enjoying it. Main “woke” pieces I’ve noticed so far is a black doctor, which isn’t necessarily historically inaccurate. Other than that is the insertion of a lot of “native lands” narrative with dialog around how homesteading displaced tribes. There is also some horrible CGI with wolves. The show still has a super wholesome throwback feel.

Little House on the Prairie is a memoir-style children's novel series which is somewhat autobiographical. The only "problematic" thing with it is the people who take on these projects only to learn that history is "culturally insensitive". They feel that if they keep it as is, it's a mark against them personally so they water it down to make it mass-appeal (which usually makes it no-appeal) and then apologize for the original version while publicly and pointedly patting themselves on the back for accurately signaling their virtue.

In other words, people like her take on these projects just to try to change them so they can gain diversity street cred. Funnily, they then get pissy when the majority of people don't like it.

Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

Netflilx also deliberately dumbs down shows so people can keep up with them while cruising instagram or tik tok.
