Dumb and Dumber were a bunch of bozos. GRRM definitely didn't help the situation but they just showed how big of idiots they are. It's not GRRM fault they basically gave up on the final season and were just ready to get to their next project
Just a halfway decent ending would have kept the show as one of the best of all time. Their ending made pretty much every single thing that happened up to that point useless. Hard to fathom how that's even possible but they managed to do it.
