I think you meant to put this in the top 5 best.

also why does secret window always get so crapped on? It's not a cinematic masterpiece but I really enjoyed it and it kept me entertained the whole time.

This is the only movie that can make a case to be included in both the best and worst lists

The book about the EM wave that fricked with everyone that heard it?

EDIT: Just checked, if it was made already, they are making a new one that comes out in 2016, Im really excited for that.

All things considered, I thought "The Dark Half" was a really good movie and remained relatively faithful to the novel. George Romero directed it and wrote the screenplay.

Sometimes the best thing for a movie version of a King novel is to allow the director to make changes that are more suitable for a movie audience.

Case in point: The Shining

King supposedly hated the original Shining, but it's a movie masterpiece. When King remade The Shining as a TV series, it was faithful to the book but an awful film.

King needs to understand that while he is a great writer, he's not a director. He needs to remove himself from any film production and encourage the best most talented directors to film their interpretation of his stories.

Movies like The Shining, Shawshank, Green Mile, Stand by Me, and several others were incredible because they were filmed by top talent who didn't have to worry about King interfering in the production process.

It was a great movie but bore little resemblance to the novel other than the character names and the setting. The novel was about a good man battling his demons (alcoholism). The movie removed all nuances from the story and made it about a crazy man killing his family.

The Shining may be in the top 10, but the book was so good that the movie is disappointing. (EDIT: I agree with your analysis)

IT and Christine were good books, and both sucked as movies.

On the other hand, Cujo is not a great book, and Stand By Me is better on the screen.

The Stand is a great book and Firestarter is good. Both poor movies.

I'm currently about 1/4 of the way through reading the Shining for the first time. I'm very anxious to see how it differs from the book when it's all said and done.
