Top 5 funniest show in TV History.

Also from Sanford and Son:

Aunt Esther : Who you calling ugly, suckah?

Fred Sanford : I'm calling you ugly. I could stick your face in some dough and make some gorilla cookies!

Little known fact: Redd Foxx and Lawanda Page were great friends in real life before Sanford and Son..

A lot of Married With Children.

Lizzo shaped customer: "Just look at my toes, aren't they cute?"

Al: "Yeah, for sausages."

Oh, yeah, all of Al's fat shaming wouldn't make it on screen.

Def. the first one that came to mind.

Foxx, Page, Slappy White and Don Bexley (Bubba) had all known each other on the Chitlin Circuit since at least the '50s (Foxx had known Bexley since the '40s). Foxx and White at one point were a comedy team together

(Very reasonably)

Half the lines from Barney Miller would not make it today. That show had a way of using self-deprecating humor by its cast members. They made fun of their own heritage and they covered a pretty wide spectrum:

Stan “Wojo” Wojochiehowicz
Ron Harris
Arthur Dietrich
Nick Yemana
Phil Fish
Chano Amenguale

Will & Grave couldn't be aired either with all the homo, fairy, etc. references and stereotyping.

“You don’t call retarded people retards. It’s bad taste. You call your friends retards when they are acting retarded.”

The entire gay witch hunt episode.

Watching the Sopranos right now and am in season 2. Meadow is making her pitch to go to Cal Berkeley and says that there are more Nobel Prize winners in the Bay Area than anywhere else in the world. Tony asks, “Nobel Prize winners for what…packing fudge?!”

Welcome Back Kotter, especially when the jokes went after ethnic backgrounds. I think there are a few episodes that could probably be shown uncensored and unscathed today. But some of that humor was even kinda sensitive back then. It was a big hit though, and people weren't as likely to get all up in arms over things like that, so it pushed some topics to the edge and got away with it.

Friends

Ross and hot black chick are on a date. Joey also likes said chick and shows up to undermine date. They both start saying unflattering things about each other. Ross says Joey is the guy from the subway station VD posters. Joey then calls Ross a monkey lover (in reference to Marcel) in front of chick. Would never happen today.
