Gotta go with die hard overall, although the opening scene with the chick in lethal weapon snorting coke is fire

Series? Lethal Weapon.

Both began as Christmas movies!

Die Hard
1 - phenomenal
2 - average
3 - great
4+5 - below average

Lethal Weapon
1 - great
2 - great
3 - great
4 - average

I did a re-watch of Lethal Weapon recently. It really doesn't stand up well and has a high cheese factor (with the exception of the final fight, which is still awesome).

Die Hard, however, continues to stand the test of time.

I’m also team Lethal Weapon. I’m a big fan of the buddy cop genre and they took it to another level after the early Eddie Murphy films. The running Joe Pesci gag is the cherry on top.

I watched all four Lethal Weapon's at the theater. They weren't all great. The last one sucked, but the first two were great, and the third one was good enough for me to go see the fourth one.

I watched the first two Die Hard's in the theater. The 2nd one was so bad, I never bothered seeing the rest in the theater. I like the relationship of Bruce & SLJ in Die Hard with a Vengeance, but the plot and villain suck. Live Free or Die Hard (2007) is great. Wish I'd seen it in the theater.

Die Hard stayed good. Lethal Weapon got corny after a few.

Both sucked after the second movie. Episodes 1 & 2 are both solid imho.

A Good Day to Die Hard is such a piece of shite it evens the series.

But shouldn't count as its an extra movie.

Imdb aggregate scores:

Lethal Weapon

7.6
7.2
6.6
6.7

= 7.0

Die Hard

8.2
7.1
7.1
7.6

= 7.5

Makes sense, Die Hard would win.

Add in the POS Die Hard, and...7.0...tie.

Lethal Weapon series as a whole is the better series but the first Die Hard is better than the first Lethal weapon. Both are extremely entertaining movies though so kind of silly arguing over which one is best. Like arguing which is best…BJ from a hot chick or regular sex with a hot chick.

This is Die Hard by a lot honestly. And that’s nothing against LW, it’s also fantastic. But DH is on another level IMO.

I’ve never seen the 5th DH, but I think the first four are all legit great (2 being the least so…I’d rank them 1-3-4-2).

This is the same for me as well. I recently watched LW 1 and 2. I enjoyed them a lot still, but they don’t hold up near as well as the DHs do. I still need to watch LW 3 and 4.

Gotta love all of the saxophone music transitions in LWs though. It cranks up the cheese factor now, but man it’s just so on brand for the time period.
