Die Hard is the best movie of them but Lethal Weapon is the better series.

I really only watch Die Hard 1 if it’s on but I’ll watch any Lethal Weapon. Also, Lethal Weapon went out on a banger of older cops being older. Die Hard went on for 2 movies too far.

ETA: I saw somebody hating on LW4. It’s hilarious and a great career starter for Jet Li.

I feel this one is underrated.

And can't believe it's over 15 years old.

This is really not a question. The original Die Hard is far better than any film in the Lethal Weapon Series.

Die Hard with a Vengeance =/= Lethal Weapon (original)

After that, Die Hard 2 and Live Free or Die Hard are interchangeable with Lethal Weapon 2-3.

That’s not to say that the Lethal Weapons are bad, but simply put, the franchise is a half notch below Die Hard

Can we discuss what are the good die hard movies?

Because the first three of Lethal Weapon are pretty awesome and 4 isn’t bad. Lethal Weapon 2 is damn good as is Lethal Weapon 3. Russo & Pesci added a lot. I prefer Chris Rock to Justin Long.

I feel like Die Hard’s later films are pretty meh.

Lethal Weapon, Mel and Danny as a duo are better than Bruce on his own. Die Hard is great but I’m going with the Lethal Weapon series.

Die Hard

Die Hard with a Vengeance

Yep. Could've been better w/o him but the script is solid instead of just putting Willis on a fricking boat or plane or something.

So you have 3.

Die Hard 2...I don't mind it...but it sucks because its so fricking lazy, A quick turnaround sequel, ala Speed 2, that tries to copy the original and is wholly unoriginal... I mean you know its insulting when Steven Seagal has a WAY better sequel in Under Siege 2, than both Die Hard and Speed.

The 5th installment is Bruce straight to videoing. Can't believe I saw this turd in the theaters. Can't believe they released it in the theaters.

Series? Lethal Weapon.

I tend to agree with you - Die Hard 1 is the best of the set, but LW had more consistency. Die Hard 2 was definitely meh to bad, and that hurts the entire series. Lethal Weapon didn't fall off, really, until the end.

My only disagreement might be I think Lethal Weapon 1 is almost as good as Die Hard 1.

I like Lethal Weapon. 2 had a lot of funny gags, and the character development over the course of the franchise was exceptional. You really know Riggs and Murtaugh even though you saw them for just 8 hours.

The first four are all really good-to-great IMO.

Like I said earlier, 2 is the worst. But even it still is good. The plot just felt a bit thin IMO, and some of the things that made the first one so great (the intimacy of bring in a building, the discussions with Hans/Al, the humor, etc.) were missing. But it still holds its own.

Die hard 3 is great IMO. I love the dynamic with Willis and SLJ. And the cat and mouse type shite with the puzzles add something new to the series. Simon is also a solid villain. And I liked how they tied him to Hans. It's also the highest-grossing film of the franchise, and I do think that speaks to its quality.

Live Free or Die Hard is honestly pretty underrated. While the plot is a bit farfetched (like sending the natural gas to the one plant within like 5 minutes and blowing it up), but Olyphant plays a good dickhead villain, and I like the fact that he's not a physical threat like Karl in 1 but he's got the IT edge to him. And that brought a different sort of threat, and a more national one as well. If someone were ever to attack our infrastructure like they did in LFoDH, we'd be a good bit fricked IMO. And for the most part, it was believable enough to work. I do like Justin Long well enough, and I liked he and Willis's chemistry.

Like I said, never saw the fifth one (and don't really plan to). But the first four are all really good IMO.

Also, there is a much better flow to the DH movies for me, whereas the LW movies feel more like individual scenes spliced together, if that makes sense. I don't know what it is, but when I watched the first two LWs recently they felt almost disjointed a bit.

Die Hard especially if you forget about anything past the 3rd movie.

First movie only? Die Hard

Full series taken as a whole? Lethal Weapon.

I think this has become a more popular opinion over the years, but I think Die Hard 3 is the best Die Hard movie.

That's about where I'm at but I would argue LW2 is better than LW1 and I'm pretty sure I would take LW2 over Die Hard.

After the first Die Hard, I didn't really care much for the rest. I think, at times, Die Hard can be a bit overhyped (and I don't mean this as overrated) because of the "is it a Christmas movie?" narrative.

Olyphant is the reason I like this one so much as he's a great villain.

It has some ridiculous moments but what movie like this doesn't?

Lethal Weapon bc it didn’t take itself too seriously

I guess you could say the same about Die Hard. But I appreciated the comedic element of LW.
