I’ll also say this for Woody Allen’s entire filmography. He’s been nominated for Best Original Screenplay more than twice the time of his next contender. Absolutely ridiculous. Woody Allen could sign his name on a literal pile of dog shite and get nominated for that award at this point.

I'm not sure what has changed about the membership of the Academy or of the voting patterns of the Screenplay noms, but there was an extremely sharp change in the early 00s.

In the 80s and 90s, almost all of the Best Screenplay noms were forgettable trash, including about 6 nominations for Woody Allen.

Ick.

What's so wrong is they're acting sexy but not having a clue of what they're doing. Glad I cancelled Netflix over a year ago.

Jojo Rabbit was some kindergarten Hitler nonsense made for viewers with the mentality of five year olds. Worst movie of 2019, way over-praised considering how

You're just weird for bringing it up in a thread it doesn't belong in. No one thinks it's legendary, we just think you didn't actually see it.

Same here. I saw it this year too. It was ok, not great. I think see The Joker first ruined Taxi Driver for me. They are basically the same film, but Joker is better.

Nah, I just thought it was stupid. Only eight year olds would think it had some sort of deeper meaning to it.

Well, it did have a deeper meaning. Did you even get it?
I'm thinking you didn't. ( Hint - it wasn't about the Jewish girl )

But no one should call it 'legendary'. I think there's board agreement on that point.

Easy Rider
Midnight Cowboy
The Deer Hunter

I was a teenager when I watched those so maybe if I saw them again I would appreciate them more but I recall finding them all boring.

Deer Hunter is the cinematic equivalent of Ambien

The last third or so is incredible but damn it’s hard to make it through the never ending wedding scene.

I just hate the film because I don't think there is any real skill.

Cimino shot 110 miles of film; the wedding scene takes an hour...his other movies like Heaven's Gate suffer the same fate.

He was making movies nobody wanted to sit through...the initial print was 3 and 1/2 hours long and people involved with post-production said Cimino (like a hoarder) didn't want to cut anything he shot.

But it's a great way to fall asleep.

Deep Throat. Even by the standards of porn from that time it just isn't that good. It isn't even Linda Lovelace's best work.

Behind the Green Door has the same problem. Its really slow throughout the movie and Marilyn Chambers did much better work throughout her career.

As for mainstream movies... well Annie Hall is the slam dunk answer.

Saving Private Ryan isn’t a top 3 World War II film by Spielberg or even the best World War II film from 1998.

Gone With the Wind. Read the book when I was 13 and loved it. There was a re-release in theaters not long after I read it so I was thrilled to be able see it. Disappointed. Hated the casting of Ashley.

Tried to watch it again years later and still didn’t like it.
