Nah, DeNiro has more money then some countries at this point. He makes a high profile dramatic project once every two or three years, usually as part of a large ensemble cast, and the rest of the time he takes roles he enjoys.
It just so happens DeNiro really enjoys making screwball comedies. The goofier the character and script the more he likes it.

I'm sure he doesn't need the money but he's not playing second fiddle to 50 Cent in straight to dvd garbage because he loves the art of film making.

DeNiro has basically said he wants to leave his family, kids, grandkids etc. with as much money as he can
