quote:You can say the same thing about Buddy at EMCC. The only difference is that EMCC has money pumped into their program and ICC clearly isn't on that level. I think Brown knows what he's talking about when it comes to QB play. But other positions on that team clearly are relying on raw talent.
Granted I'm sure there's tons we don't get to see on the show, but I dont' see how you can say coach "knows his stuff on the field" or whatever. The guy has said many times it's all about the players and basically his entire philosophy (everywhere he's been it seems) has bene to recruit the best athletes and he'll beat lesser talent. Their practices look disorganized as hell. In what we've seen on TV it doesn't look like he does a whole lot of scheming or gameplanning. It seems to a casual observer like his entire season boils down to "we've got guys from FSU, Michigan, etc. so we're goign to win no matter what".
quote:Don't think Brown is anywhere near as bad as Buddy. A couple of episodes in i thought he was a fake, but I'm on board with him caring about the kids. On the Butler episode so things can change.
And as much as I wouldn't have thought it remotely possible going in, I agree that Buddy looks angelic compared to this guy. At least buddy did have rare moments of praise and congrats for guys, and he at least looked like he knew how to run a program. Brown looks like a clueless buffoon.
Ultimately as shitty as it is, Brown had no family and nothing but football, he comes from the same situation these guys come from. He is about as successful as these kids will ever be. He talks shite to pump himself up, but he gives it to them like it is. It's not fricking hard to go to JC classes when there is nothing else to do. He gives them the choice, do what you have to in order to get out or quit like they have on everything in life.

Also not a big fan of Kingston. Dude thinks he’s better than the other two backs. Not even close.

It’s interesting how the show creates its dynamic. For example, they make Bea, that backup qb, look like a moron but he signed with Boise State out of ICC. I wonder if he and Malik really split time the whole season

Yeah, it was just hard imagining that he spent money on 4 Cadillac and a LA Beach house if he made less than that. That kind of spending is extremely irresponsible even at a 200k-300k salary.
he says that he has owned three Cadillac's, past tense. His new insurance for his fourth is higher the the previous amounts he has paid in the past

if he's the Michigan guy, all I've ever seen him do is fumble. The aTm transfer fumbled and a bunch early on but seemed to get his legs and play well. The other back, I don't even remember his name, was by far the best looking RB they had.

“I’ve got three,” the proud Brown told us. “I’ve got two in Independence. I got the DTS, the bigger body, and then I got the CTS, the $100,000 one, I just went out and bought because I wanted a fast coupe. It’s like the fastest Cadillac, it’s pretty scary. Ultra-luxury too. It’s the CTS-V Sport, with the saddle leather man. I had to have it specially made. I got my pit bull, my puppy, the exact same saddle leather harness on him.”
“It’s under construction, man, I can’t even use it right now. I’ve having to get an Airbnb,” Brown said, speaking with us while back west doing press for Netflix in the off-season. “My place had like a roof issue, so construction and insurance are fighting it out. So I’m waiting to get back in there, so it’s been about six months. So I haven’t basically been home since.
“But yeah it’s by the beach, I got like a 100 x 100 deck on the sand,” he added. “It’s pretty cool.”

Just started Episode 4. How does a JUCO head coach (who does not have a wife) have 4 Cadillacs? Do they really make that much? I figured they made somewhere around 200-300k. I'm assuming he's just a real dumbass with his money
Did he play in the NFL at all? If he played a season or two and wasn't completely idiotic with his $$$ I could see how he managed a beach house.

After Compton Community College, he took a football scholarship to Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in Hays, Kansas. He was honored to learn under the legendary, Jeff Leiker. While at Fort Hays State, Brown started At Quarterback and eventually went on to break every school record in the football programs history before earning his degree in Kinesiology in 2003.
Upon graduation, Brown became an NFL free-agent and was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. After a short stint with the Chiefs he moved on to play for the New York Giants, played in NFL Europe, and in the Arena Football League.
He's probably made a little money professionally.

Yeah JB was in the NFL for a little while

Dummy...this is why your insurance will be way more.
Talking about the coach, not the poster.

A new ball fresh out the box is terrible to throw. I would be pissed if that got put into the game rotation
Now imagine the LHSAA forces you to use strictly brand new balls in the Dome. Oh yeah and they have to be Baden even though you’ve used Wilson/Nike all year long. That’s why players/coaches were pissed with the amount of turnovers in the state championships the last few years. Oh and they aired them up to be hard as a rock. Try catching/throwing those beauties.

Not to be stereotypical, but it wouldn't surprise me if JB is doing some shady arse shite to get all that money. Possibly sports related, but from his background, he could definitely be ganged up with some trafficker connections. I know more than a handful of folks who have "gone legit" but still keep a few irons in the fire with the game as a form of supplemental income.

You must only be on episode 2 or 3 lol. The A&M back looked legit. Not easy to break off 98 yd TD runs against D1 talent

I just don't understand the mindset. But everyone is different.

Malik only had like 1300 yards passing on the season, but it doesn’t look like he split time with Bea. Bea only had like 350 passing and the 3rd string guy actually had about the same.
They didn’t exactly light it up offensively looking at the NJCAA stats

Can’t believe the QB coach is doing it for free. The guy should have just gotten his teaching certification and went to a prominent high school to learn how to coach during his younger years. Like you guys have said, he tries to be too buddy buddy and is that young coach that wants to be liked.
He’ll figure it out as he gets older. He just needs to hit the high school route first

Everything about ICC just stinks to high heaven. The athletic director, the facilities, the president... everyone but the one English professor and the poor geeky kid who put together the music video for the team (which no one other than the mascot gave him any props for).
The coach is a total inconsistent trainwreck. I can't stand Malik, but the kid clearly understands what's happening ingame better than the head coach.

I'm almost done, but that's why I said he ended up getting it together and playing well. I don't recall the michigan transfer doing anythign of note.
