It's also clear that Brown knows what he's talking about the field.

I'm assuming you mean "on the field."

It is?

Dude, Buddy Stephens shite on his assistants' private lives, while on the sidelines.

Oops I'm on mobile.

I don't think Brown is a terrible coach. But I think his ego will be his downfall in the end. Also, I think he puts his foot in his mouth more times than not (In episode one, he makes the comment that he didn't watch much film on a team that put 70 on Indy).

Judging by the current coaching staff. It doesn't seem like Indy CC assistant coaches made too many moves (Diaz is nolonger the QB coach). EMCC was always releasing coaches who moved on to D1 jobs.

I thought the QB coach was kinda cringy at first but now I’m starting to feel sorry for him. He means well and he’s out there doing it for free. Then you had Coach Brown absolutely chew his arse out for Malik not making it to class on time. I thought he was going to cry.

The QB coach Diaz was way too soft.

He was unbearable, the only person I couldn’t stand more was Malik. He was more focused on being liked than to actually coach. The guy threw the program and his head coach under the bus, but said what everyone wanted to hear to their actual faces.

Obviously the guy is young and needs to learn how to coach, but that “go behind your back” attitude is worse than the abrasive and vulgar up front stuff that JB does. For that reason, I wouldn’t hire him. Hopefully he learns from a better staff and grows a pair. He definitely did not benefit from what was shown on his show.

Yeah, most JUCO HC's are making between 30-70k. That's why i think Brown was bullshitting about owning "Four cars and a beach house in CA".

Dude, unless you get one of the 2 per program D1 GA jobs, everyone starts out that way. I made 5k a year in a very similar situation as that coach, living on the same hall as the athletes. Whether he’s getting paid nothing or 100k, he should know better than to throw the program under the bus. He’s gotta learn not to buddy buddy the players too (wanted Malik to like him too much)

I'm just over half way through and I'm a little disappointed in the team selection by Netflix.

I was excited for a new coach and team, but was hoping this season would separate itself from EMCC & Buddy (part of the reason I thought they left). Unfortunately, its seems Coach JB is even worse at times.

I’m 3 episodes in so I haven’t seen this whole throwing the program under the bus thing.

Also I enjoy more of the off the field part of the show than during the games.

Granted I'm sure there's tons we don't get to see on the show, but I dont' see how you can say coach "knows his stuff on the field" or whatever. The guy has said many times it's all about the players and basically his entire philosophy (everywhere he's been it seems) has bene to recruit the best athletes and he'll beat lesser talent. Their practices look disorganized as hell. In what we've seen on TV it doesn't look like he does a whole lot of scheming or gameplanning. It seems to a casual observer like his entire season boils down to "we've got guys from FSU, Michigan, etc. so we're goign to win no matter what".

And as much as I wouldn't have thought it remotely possible going in, I agree that Buddy looks angelic compared to this guy. At least buddy did have rare moments of praise and congrats for guys, and he at least looked like he knew how to run a program. Brown looks like a clueless buffoon.

Yeah, it was just hard imagining that he spent money on 4 Cadillac and a LA Beach house if he made less than that. That kind of spending is extremely irresponsible even at a 200k-300k salary.

I mean it's JUCO football. This isn't going to look pretty and the majority of players/coaches are in this for themselves.

It’s insane how average Malik looks compared to how highly he was ranked.
