While I completely agree with you, this is really a matter of opinion. Feig's movies have been both critically and financially successful.

Lowest common denominator effect.

You've already made up your mind that its not going to be any good but its pretty funny you seem to think its impossible that this could be better than GB2. Its also funny that you are saying this is akin to making Bond a woman when there have already been female Ghostbusters in the cartoon series.

No its because it's a remake with shitty unfunny people in it

There was a rumor that it would have been a sequel with Anna Faris and Emma Stone which sounds a lot fricking better

I don't like that they are remaking it with women...not because it's women, but because it feels like the worst kind of pandering.

This.

It comes down to three things:

1. The Women that they chose (Mostly 2 of the 4)
2. It being all women - If you want to make a diverse film....make a diverse film with a bunch of different people in it. Making it all women is straight pandering and not worthwhile anymore. You don't need to make a statement.
3. Seemingly not continuing the story or the universe in any productive way.

What the world's most boring woman doesn't understand is that it's not because they're women. It's the mentality behind making them all women.

The fact that they keep shoehorning the original cast into it and making assertions that seeing this movie is a show of female solidarity is what screams shitfest. If it was good on its own merit, these cheap tricks wouldn't be necessary.

I haven't made up my mind at all. I'm telling you the brand name "ghostbusters" isn't pulling me in.

I associate snail with social justice and safe humor

I associate ghostbusters with ghost blowjies, foul language, geek shite and positron accelerators

GhostBusters feat Steve Carrell, Louis CK,

Jonah Hill or Josh Gad,

Kevin Hart or Dave Chappelle FTW!

Dave Chapelle in ghostbusters could be one of the funniest movies of all time.

The concept of women ghostbusters was not a deal breaker for me, but I'd have preferred actors who are actually funny. Rebel Wilson is one of the funniest actors working. She'd have been great in this.

I think Carrell and CK are 2 contempts that most mirror Dan and Murray.
Adding Chappelle and Jonah would just make a more well rounded group that in theory could carry and deliver on their own screen time. Although none of them could be mistaken for scientist.

I do not lady hate. I agree that the cast is weak and does not pay proper respect to the original cast.

Rebel is annoyingly funny. At times gross but definitely hilarious. I thought the original idea was bridesmaids meets ghostbusters? Why did they not keep that cast or one similar?

Def not a McCarthy fan. Wiig is ok.

That movie looks so awful.

They found unfunny actresses and shoehorned them into roles they don't belong in.

I'm predicting 130,000,000 domestic. 220,000,000 foreign.

You don't need all men either. Having diversity is fine, there are tons of great comedic actors out there. An all woman cast IS NOT DIVERSITY.

How about Carrell, Wigg, Chapelle and John Cho? Or Emma Stone, Keegan-Michael Key, McKinnon, and Michael Pena?

Louis CK, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, Anna Faris, Poehler, etc. Tons of great diverse casts that could be available.

No way the foreign take is that high. GB is almost a purely American property.

Unless I had no idea that McCarthy's pull is that good internationally.

The question is not if this will bomb, but how badly will it bomb.
