ETA Also how did Booker T get over if what your saying is true?....same for Flair when he came in?....and Bischoff?.....I mean hell Bischoff was almost as over in WWE as he was in WCW.

Well Booker was young and hadn't really been made yet. Being WCW champ in 2000 doesn't qualify.

Flair had been in WWF before and even brought the NWA title with him when he did!

By the time Eric came in like 5 years later or whatever they probably didn't care any more. But they obviously still had feelings about WCW in 2001.

Well the WBF wasn't good business either but that didn't stop Vinnie now did it.

He thought it was at the time....and the intent was to help get Luger over.....which was impossible.

It turned out to be the drizzling shits....but I don't think he sabotaged it as you suggest he did to DDP

Okay, better wrestling and better creative is still a better product even if it draws fewer eyeballs.

I guess that makes me a mark but I thought that was the point as a fan?

His ego got ahead of his brain

No reasonable person could have thought paying big guaranteed money for a hyper niche product was going to work out.

This is but one of many examples of this in VM's career

Would make him easier to bury for both of those reasons.

Most people watching in 2001-2003 didn't have a clue about Flair's 1 yr run with WWF in 91.

I don't buy that.

The business has changed incredibly over the years.....it's hard on fans if they want to stay the same.

I don't want it to stay the same, I just don't want what Vince is selling.

I hoped AEW would be a viable alternative but they're doing the same 25 year old formulas every RAW/Smackdown/Nitro ever used, with somewhat better wrestling but also some shite that's even goofier than WWE.

Sure but in Booker they had a guy that a) they could more or less mold and b) had a lot more time in front of him than behind him, which you couldn't say about Page.

Vince did though, besides it's Ric Flair.

I think Eric in the late 00's got a much softer run than he would have gotten in the early 00's

Nothing wrong with that.

You had to know this would be the case....I mean the weird way they handle builds and vignettes is rough to. I mean the Youtube stuff before the TV show was OK but damn we have live TV now put those promos in the ring or in the back....whatever put them live on TV.

When they started bringing in talent like Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt, and Orange Cassidy I knew it was gonna have a lot of BS. I haven't watched AEW since their 3rd week on TNT.

I did watch the clip of Hardy teleporting in the arena with Schiavone calling it....that was the campiest thing I've see in wrasslin since RoboCop at Capital Combat 90

ROH well past it's prime as well, that's why I started watching NJ.

I haven't given NXT much of a shot tbh, I renewed WWE Network to watch old PPVs/Raws/Nitros/ECW while the world is closed so maybe i'll give that a look.

NXT IMO is by far the best combination of storylines, realism, and in ring work out there at the moment.....but I've never watched the current iteration of NWA. Of course if Nick Aldis is still champ I'm sure it's pretty bland

Absurdly reliant on 80's nostalgia. If they were a band they would be The Darkness.

Best money I've ever spent. I actually thought about going through one of the whole Monday Night War years week by week

It's kinda sad to think I got one of those old WrestleMania VHS sets for Christmas back in the day when I was a kid for like $80 one year

I saw those also. Just that nostalgia of hitting Blockbuster every Friday to rent a game and whatever PPV VHS they had will always keep me a Network subscriber I think

I wouldn't say we were friends, but he was a year younger than me and we went to the same school and played Pop Warner together. Once we hit Jr.High he moved to a different district.

New Jack episode doesn't even seem real.

How that guy isn't in Prison must've been a confluence of the times and the views of wrestling.

BTW, Vice has an app where you can stream all of the episodes. Even if you don't have Vice on your cable network the app gives you two hours free so you can watch a couple of episodes.

They're all on YouTube under random accounts in good quality. No need to download a vice app.

Dr. D David Schultz slapping the shite out of John Stossil from 20/20 was very satisfying.
