It was better than my 1st time watching the series. Had forgotten how brilliant the script was and a display of virtuoso acting performances. Great concept by Vince Gilligan.

It was a pretty good show. For me though, any episode that spent too much time on walt's family was a yawner. The show was at it best when it was just walt jessie and whoever else.

I binged it for the first time several years back and watched the whole thing in like 11 or 12 days. I remember it being very good and really liking it, and also thinking it was relatively overrated (at the time all I heard was how much it was the BEST. SHOW. EVARRR!!!11!).

I hope to rewatch it in the next year or two, and hopefully it holds up to my first viewing. Also, I'm hoping that loving Better Call Saul as much as I do will also make BB better upon rewatch.

I couldn't finish it. Flynn and that wife were too annoying.

I think bing watching tends to lead to this. Most shows that I have binged I feel are overrated here. You don't get the weekly hangover of thinking about the plot between episodes. You don't do a rewatch before the new season. Maybe I'm off base but that's the way it seems to me. I think it takes something away.

The whole arch of Walt as family man / doing this selflessly for his family to becoming selfish egotistical kingpin wannabe back to his somewhat selfless act for Jesse and his family at the end was a lot of what made this show work though. We had to see the family story to make the rest of it so good in my opinion.

I get all that. They were just boring episodes though.

It definitely could be due to that. I do remember watching though, and thinking how I'm glad I was binging because the show moves SO SLOW at times that watching week to week would have sucked.

I love BB, but I think this is a case of a lot of people watching their first great tv show. It was what got me into hbo shows and whatnot.

Great show up until the end of S4.

S5 was disjointed and the series finale was straight up garbage

B+ show on the whole.

I love how these threads (threads about widely acclaimed all time tv shows/movies) always end up with posters doing the “well, it actually isn’t that great” thing

This is the worst take I have ever read on this board.

He’s right about S5 though. It had a totally different feel than S4 and wasn’t near as good. Now, I thought the finale was pretty badass, but S5 as a whole was a down season compared to the previous one, especially with how it ended.

B+ because the family/domestic storyline was boring as shite. Other than that, I loved the content.

You're right, saul is a good show. I need to pick it back up.

Ozark, which is an obvious breaking bad ripoff learned alot from that show. The writers very smartly fully integrated Marty's family into his dealings.

Ozark is a legit A+. It's everything Breaking bad could've been.

The family/domestic bullshite in breaking bad was a distraction from the stuff most of us tuned in for and that was Walt, Jessie and their wacky hijinks.

In Ozark, everyone's in on the hijinks and has been since almost day one.

Ozark, while fairly entertaining, is Netflix’s version of BB but tailored more for people with severe ADD or short attention spans. They’re trying to cram too much crap into short time frames and it’s going off the rails, especially season 2
