And it's not going to stop any sort of noteworthy amount of people from seeing it.
I'd bet Disney thought that when they were making The Marvels and Snow White.

Do i think it was a bad thing she said? No. Dumb? Probably.

I didn't think Brie Larson said anything bad, just kinda dumb.

Trying to engage in controversial topics that could affect movie publicity seems like a bad move, particularly right before a major opening.

What amount is noteworthy? Is there any amount that would make you concede the point? I think not.

If it made 10+ million dollars below projection, you would say "reviews, fatigue, sexism, {insert cookie cutter hipster cope here}", so you find yourself with an unfalsifiable position.

Jurassic World Rebirth, from Universal and Spielberg’s Amblin Productions, opens Wednesday, July 2, in North America on the eve of the long Fourth of July weekend. Tracking is suggesting a five-day debut in the $100 million to $125 million range, but that that number could climb higher. At the same time, there’s plenty of competition for eyeballs, including from Brad Pitt and Apple Original Films/Warner Bros.’ F1: The Movie.

I think it'll come in much higher. These films are always underestimated. Walk-ups should be strong

Come on, not even remotely on the same level as Zeigler or whatever her name is for Snow White. Also, the casting of her in itself was an awful move, add her stupid/racist comments and the fact that the movie just looked awful, it made a difference. Nobody is complaining about the Scar Jo casting, at least not any straight males.

Sure there is. But we have a perfect example in this thread that shows that those comments aren't enough to stop a significant amount of even the biggest haters of stuff like that. Nobody, legit nobody gets more worked up over this stuff than Kige, and it's not even stopping him. Dinosaurs trump everything. Dinosaurs, like pussy, are undefeated.

About what I thought it would get.

There’s just not a lot of interesting things they can do with this premise anymore

Could we set the bar at the actor saying something actually controversial or angering, not "I didn't want to take every roll I was being offered."?

Anyone angry at her comments is having to do some pretty hardcore yoga to get to the anger.

and it well could. It could end up as the most profitable movie of all time. It could go down as the first film to make a trillion dollars.

That isn't my point. The statement you are responding to, was just me establishing that there is no baseline and therefore the point is unfalsifiable.

My point is that stars saying unnecessary things in movie promo periods obviously have an effect on the bottom line.

There are too many examples recently to dismiss out of hand. And in pretty much every instance, we had the JayAre's, the FewerKilometer's, and the others all telling us it wouldn't make a difference (and often insinuating we were all ist/phobes for even discussing it).

When it did make a difference, they switch to "Review bombing, movie was just bad, always knew it would bomb", and something something "anti-wokes!!!!"

Am I personally bothered by what she said? No.

But ivywivy(?) made the claim, I did not.

Just an FYI, I wasn't really responding to you or to anyone in particular. You were just the last post. All good

I would also like to point out that almost all the controversy in these statements are typically farmed by the publisher of the articles/interviews.

If I were an actor in Hollywood with a big movie otw, I would demand every interview be about the film or nothing.

These starlets keep thinking the media is on their side.

I always think of the Billy Bob Thornton quote from "Primary Colors": The media giveth, then go frick yourself.

Nolan’s Odyssey teaser is playing in front of this film. I don't think it'll be released online until next week, but there's leaks out there already. Looks great

Just in time for James Cameron to throw shade at him?

Talk about an example of a guy saying a dumb thing with a mic in his face

But as to the film, I will almost certainly be there on opening night

Looks like the type of blockbuster we've allbeen waiting on.

SFPs review of this movie has me actually stoked to check it out. Dominion is one of the worst movies I’ve seen in my entire life and that’s not hyperbole.

Dominion was terrible. I can't believe I watched that movie in a theater

This movie kills the legacy of Dominion, too

Watched it tonight. Give it a 6/10. Probably went in with too high of expectations.

Can definitely tell it’s directed by Gareth Edwards, the famous smoke/foggy scene backlight by red and a window/glass door(Godzilla 2014/rouge one). Darkness when the main monster is on screen(Godzilla 2014).

The projections for overseas numbers are crazy. The rest of the world really loves these movies.

Big JP fan here. Absolutely beautiful to look at compared to the other J-World movies, Had some solid action sequences, but I think they needed to be longer to build more tension or cut some of the filler expo, the pacing is just way off. I didn't expect nor need a genius plot, but also did not expect to be BORED at times. Honestly the first Jurassic World was more exciting than this one. I really wanted to like it more. It's not bad. But could have been way better, potential lost.

A true reboot of Jurassic World needed to be R and scarier. But no one takes chances anymore, because Hollywood is dying and very few can make good movies anymore.

I will absolutely go see it. I love Dino movies of any sort.

I don’t know if there’s any series that I can say I’ve seen every iteration of in theaters but for JP it’s true.

The only ones I truly didn’t highly like were III and Dominion. I have criticisms of JW, Fallen Kingdom, and Lost World but I’m forgiving of dumb summer blockbusters with dinosaurs.

Why R?

The franchise is built on the Spielbergian sense of wonder and children in peril, and those things do better in a package that is accessible to adolescents.

Would JP be better as a full-gore monster horror? That's hard to imagine.

The closest to R we ever got was the mansion scene in Fallen Kingdom. It’s one of the worst JP movies but one of the best scenes by a mile.
