I’m always fascinated when people claim they were fired without cause… as most states allow you to get fired without any cause at all.
Even in those states, you are going to lose in court if the employee can prove you fired him/her for something you let someone else slide on.

They cut ties for tweets and speech, and said that's why. Meanwhile, they didn't cut ties with people saying and tweeting much worse than her.
I don’t think your opinions make you a protected class

In an at-will state, like Louisiana, an employer can generally fire an employee for any reason, including for something that other employees were allowed to do, as long as the reason isn't illegal
She only has a case because this is in a shite liberal state like California which fricks business. Which is ironic people here are celebrating that
Here you can absolutely fire an employee for saying “frick trump” while not firing employees that say frick Biden

Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. California state law says they can't. Disney chose to place their HQ there, and then broke California law by firing Gina Carano at a time when they should have been fully aware of the laws in that state.
People who want laws like this to be overturned should fully support this lawsuit.

Correct. Choosing to place your business in California when you have options is asinine

Not ironic at all actually. These laws need to be shoved in the faces of those who think they support them.

Disney is in this mess because of their blatant inconsistency.
If they had a blanket "don't talk about controversial stuff" rule and enforced it equally that'd be fine.
But the issue is they are extremely selective about who they chose to punish and for what and it's obvious where their biases lie.

He’s actually shilling for big pharma on another board so he’s tied up right now.

Gina's lawyers feel differently, or else they'd not have asked. And Disney isn't thrilled about the ruling either.
So there's that.

Even in Texas, if the firing is not justified, the fired employee can still get unemployment if they can prove their case to the Workforce Commission.
Even in Texas, you can sue for wrongful termination and win if the firing was unjustified.
So, yes, you’re correct, you can be fired without cause, but you’d better be ready to pay unemployment or a lawyer.

but don't companies normally fire employees that make post on social media they don't agree with?
Rachel Zegler made a post on social media wishing harm on MAJORITY of the citizens in the USA.
I can't find a link where disney fired her

The producer of her movie made a special trip to convince her to knock it off.
The entitled little brat refused.
Snow White is getting exactly what it deserves.

it's at 77 million after almost 3 weeks in 4200 theaters.
I was hoping they would have done worse the first weekend. I was wanting it to be closer to 50 million.
They won't even get to 100 million. This will be the biggest bust in movie history. Couldn't happen to a better person and company.
They will never learn.

That’s absolutely not true. You are allowed to be fired for any reason at all, but you are still obligated to be truthful in any reason voluntarily given. It’s why most at will places simply won’t give a reason or would be exceedingly vague about it.
If it was just protected classes wrongful termination suits wouldn’t be as big as they are.

Except they didn’t claim to fire someone for being left or right leaning. They fired someone for making “inflammatory political commentary.”
Secondly, you’d be fricking stupid disclosing that as a reason. Even if you win you risk getting tied up in litigation. You’d just say “you just aren’t a good cultural fit” and leave it like that.

This is why Disney is sweating discovery. It's also why I hope GC goes to the mattresses and refuses to settle.

Minecraft earning more money in its opening weekend than Snow White will earn its entire global run.

It's a good win. Just keeping it on perspective.
