I don’t blame them either.

In fact I’d say Clarke’s cold calculated queen of the ashes was maybe her best actual scene on the show.

Peter Dinkledge basically carried that episode and made some of the conclusions at least in the vacuum of a single episode somewhat satisfying to me.

People have worked a lot longer on projects that failed, than the talent for GOT season 8 did. Publicly failing means the public will comment on the failure, no matter how much the project meant to you.

Every team in every sporting event, every day try their hardest and half of them lose.

Other than lines from the script, I haven’t heard anybody complaining about acting this season. Emilia did a great job and while Dinklage was dumbed down a lot, he tried. Actors need to not take criticism for the writing personal.

Sure he can say whatever he wants, just like I can. But the audience is in some effect the driving force behind changes in Hollywood. They want to make money, they won’t based on negative reactions by fans. GoT is over so they’ve made their money in this sense but it will hurt any future earnings by HBO or projects written by D&D after this I guarantee it.

Just look at the changes Disney has made going forward after the reaction to TLJ.

It’s not Kit’s fault, it’s the writers and show runners. But we’re allowed to voice disappointment and to just come back and say frick off we worked hard is a douche move.

How about come up with why we should frick off Kit? Try to explain what happened from your POV instead of shutting down any criticism with we worked hard. So does everybody else.

From a technical aspect, season eight was damn near perfect. The production design, the visual effects, the costume and lighting, and cinematography were all top notch. Best I've ever seen on television. The directing, for the most part, was also very solid.

What killed the season for me and for many others was the writing.

Correct.

You don't think they're going to make money off the spin-offs because some fans didn't like the ending? Really? Your guarantee doesn't mean anything. They'll make money.

What changes are those? Kennedy is still running the show and by all accounts, Johnson is still getting his trilogy. So what changes were implemented because of that melt?

Honestly, I think he's hoping fans remember the show for seasons 1-6 and the good parts of Season 7. All the focus on the poor "final" season shouldn't, necessarily, erase the enjoyment of the first several.

That said, people literally paid for HBO JUST for that show. I think they have some justification in their complaints.

don’t put any blame on the actors. During that finale I could almost sense them cringing during their lines knowing this was dumb as frick

I firmly believe the show was a victim of it's own success. Once their viewership hit a certain threshhold of financial guarantees, the checks were gonna be written regardless.

If enough of the writers are already looking ahead at the spinoffs (plus whatever myriad number of doors had been opened) and know they will be paid, the only real motivation left is artistic integrity. Most of that was supplied by GRRM.

Of course they are going to make money, I’m saying it won’t be as big of a hit as GoT because these last two seasons were shite. Aka leaving money on the table, bad taste in people’s mouths.

They took a step back and re-evaluated their release plan right? They’re moving away from the “skywalker saga” because those characters have been played out and ruined. TLJ backlash and Solo bombing had a hand in that, diehard nerds had a hand in that.

They were never going to be as big as Game of Thrones, and that has little or nothing to do with a minority opinion about the show.

Right, and that's because of Solo's performance, not TLJ melt.

They were always moving away from "Skywalker saga." Hell, they dropped those hints when they bought Star Wars.

The first rule of being an actor, director, screenwriter, producer, or what have you should have in media is that the customer is always right. Even if they are wrong.

They pay your wages. Kit Harrington would be giving hand jobs to casting directors but for landing this role and the fans have made him a rich man.

"I understand some of the fans were unhappy with the ending and I get that. With so many complex story arcs and characters its impossible to for things to turn out the way everyone wants it to. I just hope that the fans are happy with our body of work."

Viola. You don't piss off the producers. You don't piss off the fans. You don't sound like a complete douchebag considering you were whining about the finale a couple of weeks ago.

Cause I know how much work was put into this," Harington told Esquire.

"I know how much people cared about this. I know how much pressure people put on themselves and I know how many sleepless nights working or otherwise people had on this show. Because they cared about it so much. Because they cared about the characters. Because they cared about the story. Because they cared about not letting people down," he continued.
Not a single thing he said has the slightest bit to do with whether it was good or not.

People caring very deeply about something =\= “it is above any criticism.”
