Pretty sure Fidel Castro wasn't Latino either and both James Franco's father and Fidel Castro's father were from the same region of Europe in the Iberian Peninsula.

If James Franco is Castro, then I guess Seth Rogen will be Che’?
That would be a good spoof comedy.

It’s called “acting” John. The whole fricking point is to pretend to be something you’re not, dumbass.

Fidel Castro wasn't even Cuban. His dad came from the Iberian peninsula (Spain/Portugal) while his mom was born in the Canary Islands (a Spanish possession located just off the coast of Africa).
Several people googled it and posted this same thing already. Me, I had no idea and wouldn’t have ever considered Franco. But hell it could work.

in other Hollywood news, members of the demon clown community are still unhappy with the shameless appropriation of their native customs and dress in Spawn

The bigger story is that they’ll probably paint Fidel as some hero when in fact, he was a murderer who destroyed the future of his own people.
Thank you. Yes. And they’ll probably manage to make Che’ a martyred revolutionary lion.
Frick Castro and Guevara. Murdering communists only different from Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot in the numbers murdered.

The bigger concern is whether they portray a murderous, evil piece of dog-shite in an even remotely good light.

Man, I could have sworn Fidel Castro was Latino.

quote:Interesting objection, given that Castro himself was of pure Iberian stock. His father was an immigrant to Cuba from the Galicia region of Spain, and his mother was from the Canary Islands (where most of the population is entirely Iberian).
John Leguizamo Slams James Franco’s Casting as Fidel Castro: ‘He Ain’t Latino!”
Franco is 1/4 Iberian himself (Portuguese), along with Swedish and Russian Jewish.
Leguizamo is from Colombia and has significant Native ancestry, along with some Iberian stock.
So, genetically, Franco is probably about as close to Castro as is Leguizamo.

Will there be this kind of controversy when a movie about Castro Carazo is made? He was LSU's band director when Uncle Huey was King. Cazazo was Costa-Rican born, and graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Barcelona.
He wrote Huey Long's campaign song Every Man a King, and several of LSU’s songs, most notably “Touchdown for LSU,” (still a major component along with “Tiger Rag” in the LSU Tiger Marching Band’s famed pregame show in Tiger Stadium), “The LSU Cadets March” and “Darling of LSU.”

Who gets to play Carazo? He looks whiter than Huey. Looks like a Baptist preacher.
