She hit a grand slam, once in a lifetime shot with Harry Potter, it is by far my favorite book series, I've read them all a million times and will love them forever.

Everything else she writes sucks, I forgive the plot holes in HP because it's such a great world and story she created, plus it's designed for a younger audience, but her other stuff is just...... really bad.

Cursed Child, horrible, bad storytelling, almost trying to find ways to ruin her masterpiece after the fact.

Last night I tried to watch Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindewald, what the actual frick?!?!?!?!?!

Not only is the magic, feel, and theme completely contrary to the magical world she created, there is no plot to this movie at all. It's like she tried to tell 10 stories at once and they all come off as 1/3 complete, I'm not even really sure why I should be scared of Grindelwald? He's basically a lesser Voldemort, and since anyone who has read the books already knows that Dumbledore is going to beat him in a duel eventually, it takes all of the suspense out of the whole "I can't fight him" storyline. She'll probably find a way to ruin Dumbledores greatest achievement in the next movie.

This movie sucks, all of her new material sucks, the only thing these new stories do is give her a way to frick up the great story she already told by trying to be cute.... Oh Nagini is actually a cursed woman??? What the hell is wrong with Rowling

I truly believed this before I started reading her other book series. I do think she ran out of steam on Harry Potter after the 5th book, but check out the CB Strike novels.

I agree. People who like Harry Potter are idiots

Read a real book that wasn’t written for 7 year olds

I tried to read Lethal White and had to quit. It was terrible. I didn't care for or like the two main characters, and she spent about 100 pages on a wedding that has nothing to do w/ the crime/mystery.

Well she's given a writing credit for story, it's my understanding that she did not write this story.

Cursed Child was written for the stage. So unless you like reading plays (probably a little above you based on your writing style) you will be unimpressed. However, it is a sight to be seen on stage and is fantastic.

Wow, so insightful that you can judge my intellect based on random forum posts, this from the mid that brought us these gems

She didnt write the cursed child. To my knowledge she isn't heavily involved in writing the films either. She may be giving general plot points, but I don’t think she’s involved with the script.

Harry Potter is definitively the most loved book series of the past 20 years. Sure it has its flaws, but it’s still an incredible series. Just because it is less esoteric and easier for children to read doesn't make it any less of a classic. It’s easy to write a book liked by a specific age group. It’s hard to write a book universally loved by people of all ages.

According to the wiki of the Crimes of Grindelwald she wrote it

Terrible take, since the 6th one is the best book in the series.

Is this your way of bragging to people that you read fricking plays for fun or something?

I think it makes more sense to judge an artist on their best accomplishments than on their worst.
I mean, do you think Francis Ford Coppola is great because he made the Godfather, or do you think he's trash because he made Youth Without Youth?

And no, I'm not comparing Harry Potter to the Godfather.

I don’t think you’re wrong about being a good writer. She’s not a good writer.

However, she’s a very capable story teller, at least with HP. HP wouldn’t be where it is if she wasn’t at least a decent story teller. You can be an average writer and still be a pretty good story teller. However, it could be that with what she had with HP practically wrote itself since her other stuff just isn’t good. It could also be that she’s just writing and the ideas are shite. Of course it doesn’t help that her writing is really subpar

Disagree. Her writing early on, except for Azkaban, is really, really meh, even bad at times. 4th book got a little better. 5th book took a step back but 6&7 are the most well written in the series by her standards
