Who does the board prefer?

quote:

At first glance, pitting Jim Carrey against Adam Sandler may feel a bit like an arbitrary choice, but the two of them have a lot in common. Both got their start in Hollywood on sketch comedy shows (In Living Color for Carrey, Saturday Night Live for Sandler), both enjoyed career highs and a ubiquitous big-screen presence during the 1990s, and both have proven they can handle more dramatic material when the circumstances are right. But on top of all that, both actors have also recently experienced a pop culture resurgence, with Sandler turning in an award-winning performance in the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems and Carrey not only premiering the second season of his acclaimed HBO series Kidding, but also set to open a major film in one of his most anticipated recent roles as the one and only Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog.

While I dislike current Sandler, I never liked Jim Carrey comedy.

Guess Sandler wins.

Jim Carrey for me. I only think a couple Adam Sandler movies are even remotely funny. Sandler could never pull off something like what Carrey did in Man on the Moon.

Dumb and Dumber is better than anything Sandler has done

Neither would be my “Ultimate Funny Man” though

Jim Carrey.

I never left the station with the Adam Sandler pain train. His humor just never quite did it for me. I think the only two movies I liked him in were Happy Gilmore and the tremendously underrated Click. And as someone here pointed out, Jim Carrey's box office performance in 1994 will probably never be beaten by another comedian. He starred in Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and The Mask...all in the same year.

Also...who can forget his In Living Color years?

I don't think that anyone has mistaken Sandler for a comic genius. He's just a funny guy who knows what works for him.

I'd rather hang out with Sandler, but Jim Carrey's insanity is on a slightly different plane of existence that gives him a lot more range.

Jim Carrey had a decent stand up career and had done several movies before In Living Color. I knew who he was when that show started. Sandler had also made somewhat of a name for himself doing standup and was on Remote Control. You could say SNL was a big break for Sandler but Carrey had a decent career before In Living Color.

Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, Me, Myself, and Irene, and The Mask
Vs
Big Daddy, Wedding Singer, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and Waterboy

Carrey better films, Sandler more rewatchable

I can probably count the times Adam Sandler has made me laugh on one hand. And have a couple fingers leftover.

The more i think about it, the harder the decision becomes. I’ve quoted fire marshall bill and the waterboy equally.

Liar Liar is my all time favorite comedy movie. I was a huge Carrey fan until he completely lost his mind.

IMO, Jim has way more depth than Sandler. Jim Carrey has the faces to go along with it as well, while Sandler just has the long face dumb look in all his films. Both funny, but Jim takes the cake

Sorry but Adam was fantastic in The Cobbler and Reign Over Me, now Carrey has had more success on the serious type movies but Sandler can be good at them. He just made a choice to not be a serious actor and just have fun with friends

ultimate?

As in the latest, or the best?

If latest, there's been plenty since.

If best, what are you smoking (it's clearly quite potent and a cranium jostler)?
