I could give scriptural reasons for those beliefs
No Christian scripture is accurate. Not the catholic, King James, Mormon or JW.
They are all faulty (proven fact) so using them as a basis to prove anything to anyone is rubbish.

He wasn't trying to prove anything. He was telling you what it was based on.

I don't have a huge issue with religions that are extreme as long as they restrict it to their community.
It's the religions that lop off heads of nonbelievers that tend to concern me.
The problem is when any religion gets too much of an upper hand without any secular controls, they all have that tendency. Even Buddhists are capable of running amuck. If you're the only non mormon in some little town in BFE Arizona, they're not going to do any head lopping, but it's going to be a damn lonely existence for you and especially your kids. The more orthodox Christian sects have gotten away from it in the last 200 years or so, but most of the history of Europe between the years ~800 and ~1800 was based on one group of Christians warring against another group of Christians over their beliefs.

The more this thread has gone on, I believe this less and less. I don't think you know shite about JW's. . . I don't either, but I think you're full of shite

You know, you may be right because it was like "their" bible, an LDS bible. Are LDS, Mormons, and JW all completely different religions?
Yea the LDS is the church of latter day saints, which are mormons. They have a book of mormon, which they hand out pretty freely lol. Yea JWs are a completely different religion.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I'm not ashamed to be a JW, but I've never mentioned it on here bc the internet can be pretty harsh. I just like to joke about movies and sports. One day we'll get to go grab a beer together, thats like 10 years in the making

But yet he couldn't explain anything I was asking. You showed your wisdom here pal.

Why don’t y’all celebrate the birth of Christ and his resurrection? I know y’all believe in Christ so what’s the deal?
Yea I'll try and give a brief explanation a little later. I'm driving now

Same concept, American made up trash that came about from the 1800s. In this case the 1880s

I work with a couple of jehovas witnesses and have had some casual conversations with them about their beliefs and what bossbailey is saying isn’t remotely close to those conversations I’ve had.

Are you still driving? I would like that explanation please.

My experience with JWs are all the same. A couple of nice gentlemen come to the door, quickly realize I know way more about the Bible and religious ideology as a whole than they do, then they quickly leave. I've openly invited in many nonmainstream faith into my home since I was 10, and have never had anyone stay more than a few minutes. Knowledge is power and seeing as I've been blessed in that regard, I've never experienced any problems, mostly just heading for the door. There's a whole lot of fail in this thread... Just saying
LDS has always facinated me as my most convicted and self disciplined friends have espoused to the religion. I do not share their beliefs overall but definitely respect who they are and how they handle themselves in general

Re: Celebrating the birth and resurrection of Christ.
About the only thing JWs recognize - I dont think "celebrate" is the correct description - is one of the days during Easter. It might be Good Friday, I'm not positive.
They definitely believe in Jesus and can quote a scripture passage for almost any situation. It's actually pretty impressive.

Why don’t y’all celebrate the birth of Christ and his resurrection
Sorry for the late reply. I had a job run long.
I'll try and give a brief explanation and it be based off the bible.
Why don't we celebrate the birth of christ. There are a few reasons
1) it's not a Christian practice/not found in the scriptures, jesus or his apostles never even commented on jesus birth.
2) bible evidence pretty much tells us that jesus was not born on December 25th or even close to it really. Luke 2:8 "There were also in the same region shepherds living out of doors and keeping watch in the night over their flocks". So the shepherds were keeping watch over their flock at night really suggests that jesus was probably born in the summer, maybe the fall. In December it would have been typical for shepherds in judea to keep their flocks under cover at night by of typically bad weather.
3) it has pagan origins. You could research the celebration of saturnalia and get a pretty good idea of the origin of Christmas. Or I could tell more about it, either way.
Next, why don't we celebrate his resurrection. We do celebrate the day of his death, on the actual day that correlates to Nisan 14 on the Jewish calendar, the day he sacrificed his life (most just do Easter sunday).
At the passover jesus explained to them what the bread and the wine represented and he told them at 1 Cor. 11:24 "This means my body which is in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me."
He specifically told his apostles to celebrate/commemorate the day of his death. Hre came to earth and give his life as a sacrifice, a day that was much more important than his birthday. That would also go hand in hand with Eccl 7:1 "@A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth."
So the really basic answer would be that jesus wasn't born on December 25th, it didn't originate with jesus, jesus didn't tell his apostles to celebrate his but told them to commemorate his death, which we do.
I feel like I'm preaching, which I'm not trying to do, I'm pretty normal, not some crazy religious person I just wanted to give a clear answer, hopefully that answers your question.

My post was meant to be humorous. I've heard the 144,000 figure quoted before and I know it originated from Revelations. I also know JWs generally avoid blood transfusions, but not why. I made up the "can't go to JW heaven if you've had a blood transfusion" part. I didn't think my comment would be taken seriously.
I worked with some JWs after Katrina. Generally speaking, they were extremely polite, helpful and hard working. Personally, I don't give shite what they do or don't believe in. I'm Catholic and we believe in some nutty shite. However, there's over a billion of us, so it's accepted as being more mainstream.
