As I said in the other thread, despite whatever they claim, this is not going to be a sequel. It's another reboot attempt plain and simple.

They want to revive the movie franchise and you don't do that with a bunch of 60-70 year old actors.

This thing is going to be awful. Trying desperately to appeal to kids when the original movie was very much for adults and just so happened to appeal to kids.

They should name it The Real Ghostbusters so people don't confuse it for Ladybusters just as the cartoon was named that to distinguish it from another show.

I believe they are going to follow ghostbuster canon for this film.

I love seeing the arse on that Caddy. Those tail fins, bullet tail lights, the chrome. Throw in the logo and the license plate and you have a teaser trailer that can give any diehard Ghostbusters fan a raging boner.

I'll have to go find the link but the rumor is that this is supposed to follow 13-14 year old kids.

If that's true then it's depressing.

Yeah, it's been in production under a fake name.

It's supposed to be 2 boys and 2 girls, but follows ghostbuster canon lore.

That's a rumor that I don't believe personally. The original rumor just said teenagers. If it goes the teenagers route, I expect it to be 17-19 year olds.

You mean exactly like you guys did with the reboot, just in reverse? Zero self-awareness, And lol at how she manages to throw Trump in there.

It doesn't help her argument that it had such a high production budget and didnt even double it in box office revenue. The budget was around $140 million and made less than $230 million. That's not even counting the merchandising. It didnt make enough money and didnt exactly please the fans.

We wanted a Ghostbusters 3. Not a reboot. Not a movie tossing aside what was established. It's not her fault, its Sonys and Paul Feigs fault.

Doesnt change much. I dont see this working out if they go with young kids of any gender.

Theres a surprisingly good amount of people that had no idea Ghostbusters: Answer the Call was a reboot.

I don't understand how somebody couldn't understand it was a reboot. All the surviving GBs sans Rick Moranis were in it playing completely different characters. Did they really think Bill Murray's character was Venkman? His character even gets killed.

shite, I'm even one of the few on this board that could see a crossover working if they went with one of the cartoon's alternate reality episodes as a basis. Even if the studio were willing to do something like that they'd have to reestablish the original series first since the 2016 flick didn't do very well. Popping off like her cast is somehow getting fricked over isn't going make Sony want to get that wild with a future GB. It's just going to make them never want to hire her again.

They have created a crossover universe in the IDW comics.

I'm ok with 18-19 year olds. Extreme Ghostbusters had college kids

Just have the kids from Stranger Things star in the sequel and call it a day.

There's absolutely no way a movie focused on teenagers can capture the spirit of the original at all.

The original they were grown men in their 30s/40s, professors at a university. They were grown men doing grown men things, having grown men conversations making grown men jokes. The original movie was for adults. No teenagers are going to be able to recreate that vibe.

In no way did they actively attempt to appeal to kids in the original, that just sorta happened.

My personal theory is that it'll be pretty simple. Ghostbusters closed down. Things got quiet. They all went their separate ways. Egon will either be dead or will have "disappeared." I dont think they'll directly address him not being there aside from a short reference. Wouldn't be shocked if Peter is a game show host now. Ray, I expect something like a teacher maybe. Winston maybe a sheriff in his home town.

My thoughts:
Ray still owns his bookstore Ray's Occult
Egon is dead(that's why the business went down)
Winston gets his degree and is maybe a professor
Venkman no idea, he's doesn't need a big part just give him a cameo or small part.

Ray decides to start the business back up after a ghost attacks someone he knows. He calls in Winston to help train a new team. One member is his employee at Ray's Occult, Kylie Griffin. She's an established character in the comics, so there's familiarity. The other 3 can be whatever. Make it a 2 guy 2 girl team, who cares, just give them good personalities. Blah blah adversity is overcome and they save the day, it sets up possible sequels.

I'm definitely no writer and won't speak for other Ghostbuster fans, but I can see the above working.

I know in some of the canon, Winston has gotten a degree. I can't remember which it was in at the moment.

I only say Ray is a professor because that would fit in with having easy access to teenagers that would be interested in that. Similar to Egon in Extreme Ghostbusters.

I wouldnt be surprised if Peter is more than a cameo. Like I said, Murray has come around more on the Ghostbusters front than he used to. I know he HATED wearing the packs. That's one reason the ALICE frame straps are thicker in Ghostbusters 2. More comfort. Also the packs were made lighter as well(hard to explain. Has to do with how they molded and cast the packs for GB2).
I also wouldnt be shocked if it's nothing more than a cameo.

Yeah that could work. I just wanted to incorporate Ray's Occult and Kylie into my idea.

I wouldnt mind the Extreme Ghostbusters being incorporated. But I dont see them doing that. I do think they'll go with the late teens/college aged kids though.
