Is the core concept of a bunch of dumbasses doing supernatural shite so complicated that they can't apply it to something else and make a great original movie?
They couldn't even apply it to an already established world in 2016. Feig said he didnt know how to make a sequel to Ghostbusters. He said he knew how to take funny women and make a funny movie. If they couldn't find a director that could build on a world that was already built, what makes you think they can create something new that's good?

Well, he did at one time...

Then why didn't he do that?

Been asking myself that for 3 years now. After talking to a couple of sources, this is absolutely legit news and not just bullshite. And it's been in the works for a while I think. Theres something real happening here that hasn't happened with previous Ghostbusters 3 attempts.

I’m legit shocked it seems this is actually happening, releasing summer 2020. The teaser captures the tone pretty well. I’m hopeful the original cast (sans Egon sadly) star in this one.
I feel like someone could play his son maybe as a new character. Jonah Hill has before and has the chops to be a leading man alongside the originals.
Some sort of scene with CGI ghost Egon visiting him could be hilarious if done well

Doubtful that Rick Moranis will. But you never know. Hes said before that if the script were good he might do it. It all makes more sense now with the big event happening in Cali in June for the 35th/30th anniversaries. I'm guessing more information including casting will be revealed then.

No. Dear God, please no. The only "son of" or child of that should be present is Oscar. But not as a Ghostbuster or as a main character. Nor should the plot have anything to do with Dana or Oscar. If Dana and Peter are together, and if this plot revolves around Dana or Oscar, Venkman needs to run away. Nobody should be getting specifically targeting by spirits that much. The passing the torch to the son gag is overdone.

I'd prefer just a subtle nod to him rather than that. One thing I think GB:ATC did well was the nod to Ramis with the bust of him in the University. Simple, respectful, easy.

Never once did I doubt the validity of the trailer. I’m legit excited.

It's still a ways off from actually being made. But, it is absolutely legit.

Not too far off if they are planning on a Summer 2020 release

Months away from filming is still a long ways off in the film business. Especially with a film that's lingered in development hell as long as GB3. It's been "ready to start filming" several times. In 2009, Dan Aykroyd told me "early next year," that was in October. Dan mentioned it again around 2012 and 2013. Until filming begins, I'm staying cautiously optimistic

i like this comment from the teaser...

I’ll accept Rainn Wilson as Janine and Louis Tully’s kid trying to bring back the Ghostbusters.. and maybe he tells stories about how his father single-handedly save the entire city in Ghostbusters two.?

Not true. I'd go see a Ghostbusters with new actors if it's done well and reflects the well on the older movies instead of the mega-CGI scooby doo female Ghostbusters.
Hear me out....Jason Reitman directs the old Apatow crew....Paul Rudd, Jason Siegel, Steve Carrell, Daryl Robinson....in a Ghostbusters movie.

Would prefer them bring back original cast.. Sans Egon of course..

As far as I know, that's the plan. We all know Aykroyd and Ernie will be more than willing. Annie Potts has said more than once in recent years that she would love to do it. Your hold outs would be Sigourney, Murray, and Moranis.

True.. of the 3 Weaver is the most likely..
BM...Who knows
Least likely Moranis and it's crazy that he hasn't had a role in a movie since '97..

Maybe. She is supposed to be involved in the Avatar sequels. So that may get in the way. Also we can only assume she will have a role in it. But I'm sure there will be a part if she wants it

Only he knows Murray has zero fricks to give. Hes come around more recently with the Ghostbusters crowd. He may also be more willing since Ramis passed away. They didnt speak for 20 years until he went to make peace and say goodbye to Harold. So maybe he will be since he held out so long. That's the fan in me wishing though.

Left to raise his kids after his wife passed away. He said he didnt really miss it and had no regrets. Cant blame him. But he has also been open to the idea. Would love to see it.

As long as it's written well, the all female one definitely wasn't.
But it did start a conversation, and that’s key.
