The prequels were always odd to me because they had much better technology (spaceships, etc.) than the original trilogy. Maybe the fall of the republic set them back like the fall of the roman empire set europe back.

Just make shite up, it’s what Star Was has done for its entire existence. OT made it up as they went, prequels had midichlorian bullshite, sequels had magic force FaceTime and healing powers. Star Wars movies have bent lore all the time.
