I don't get the drone pilot. What was with the cuck that beat him up but didn't take his money?

What was his sorry about?
Other than injuring rotten teeth what did he do?

This. It almost felt like there should be another episode dealing with him in general. I get that the pilot wanted to spend the money from his kills and that the husband wife team were just into the cuck thing but when I saw it was Lee Tergesen I guess I expected more.

Also, it felt like we skipped over the hostages having Ebola. Like, Ryan figured it out and the next episode opens with news reports about it and the President being quarantined. I'm fine with them skipping showing phone calls and the procedure to get the president to the hospital but it just felt rushed I guess.

Yeah another great example of 100% completely wrong character traits. Jack smoked the IRA dudes in Patriot games because he saw them trying to murder innocent people and it "pissed him off." That's exactly what he says to Robby Jackson (Samuel L. Jackson's character in the movie).

Amazon used 13 Hours to lure folks in thinking that Halpert was going to be the same type of character, which would have been much better, and instead we get this crap.

Have no idea about the drone pilot stuff because I won't watch another episode. I don't really understand Amazon, how can they produce great shows like Bosch and man in the high castle, and then so completely frick up Jack Ryan.

It was odd to have a recognizable face come in and have that one odd role.
His first role being the Scared prisoner in.Oz. Who would have thought the Nazi that carved up his arse would be an Oscar caliber actor and the spokesman for An Insurance company.

The lack of realism gets to me. If this was 24 I would write it off, but they make a play at being a serious show.

That subplot hits on an interesting idea. How can being a drone pilot be honorable? And what cost might there be?

There was a lot of talk about the mental toll when we first started large scale drone operations. I never saw any real follow up.

Is there cost?

The drone pilot subplot ends up being a completely ridiculous distraction though.

Absolutely agreed

I love that scene.

And it’s what makes his Ryan great.

Krasinski, there are these scenes in the end of the series where he putters around with an angry scowl on his face. He has the look of man who can’t accept events around him, but lacks the courage to do anything about it.

And that’s just weakness.

If it bothers you, do something about it.

If you won’t do anything, then stand down and walk away.

That was another ridiculous contrivance.

They wanted that scene with Jack and Kathy, and it’s the only reason it existed.

Lazy lazy writing.

That is interesting, like I said I won't watch any more, but what you are describing is the polar opposite of Jack Ryan in Clear and Present Danger, especially the end right as the credits begin to roll and Jack steps in front of Congress to testify as to what the hell happened and how it all went so out of control. Another great failure that sinks this most recent flop.

I watched the first 6 episodes yesterday. Wish they would have omitted the drone pilot story line. So far it's just filler.

Pretty sure they said this strand of Ebola was eradicated, so while its extremely dangerous, they knew what it was and had a cure. But the infection wasn't meant to kill them, it was meant to get them treated in the same place so they could be killed with the Cesium powder(someone correct me I know that's not the right material), and I will agree that it was ebola just to get the shot with Ryan and the Dr.

I have no explanation for the cuck beat down. I was fine with him blowing the money because he felt bad and thought it was dirty, but flying to go apologize was ridiculous.

That being said, I really enjoyed the series. I realize it was unrealistic, but it was a fun show to binge hungover on a holiday and I'll happily watch S2 if they make it.

Yep, now if they had said that his village was destroyed by shelling back in the early 1980's that would be accurate. The Missouri opened up a huge barrage in Lebanon during that time

Was it????????? It's been my experience with Clancy novels, etc. that nothing is a filler that gets that amount of exposure.

Yeah, I had the same feeling. I was waiting the rest of the season for the couple to make a return, but it could be held over for next season. Seems like a future potential blackmail situation.

He'd be rolling over more because instead of being a Navy Admiral he is a CIA spook.

I watched it all.

frick the haters. Great read on Ryan. Bunk and Tim Hutton owning the screen when they are on. . .

Great complicated villain.

Happy ending.

Felt like a Clancy novel to me. Can't wait for season 2!

Unrelated to the show itself since I'm just starting, but I'm glad John Krasinski is distancing himself from comedy. Heá a great comedic actor but if I ever see him in another comedic role, I'm just gonna see Jim.

He was great in 13 Hours and A Quiet Place. Looking forward to this.

One is set after he's been in the city's for a long time the other is when he's first starting out. Can't expect them to be the same person.
