Jack Reacher the movies

As we all know Reacher is huge, and that fact is constantly brought up in the books, we never forget here is a big bad duke. So word gets out there will be a movie which excites all us Reacher fans, then........little Tom Cruise????
That is as bad as John Wayne as Ghangis Khan.
Funny how I discovered Reacher. I was at a yard sale looking at books. Old lady...like to read? you might like this being a big guy....she hands me a book, yep, Killing Floor by Lee Child. Which is the first in the series. That was 20 some books ago, now own all of them.

Tom Cruise makes great movies - you should have been ecstatic he picked this movie up as opposed to someone like John Cena

Batman is a big dude as well, but finding big actors that can pull of the role is not easy. Did you like TC in the movie? If so then chill. It's not as if they turned Jack into Jane Reacher.

Having not read any books, I thought TC was damn near perfect.

I think it's in the same vein as when comic book characters are changed from current look/perception.
A current, modern comic sells about 100k issues with a first issue for a run, then if they're huge they may stay in the 80k range; for your non-Batman, non-Spider-Man series, that number is much lower.
There are times when the depiction in the "other" media works and times it doesn't. Spider-Man had organic web shooters at the same time that Tobey's movies came out, so he got organic. They went away from those, so Andrew and Tom got technological shooters.
I'm not saying I agree/disagree with Reacher's physical stature being different, but sometimes you drop one for the other.
Do you feel there's an actor who, at the time of the shooting, would have better fit Reacher's physical stature AND was a good enough actor to pull it off?

I always thought the emphasis was on Reacher's training and intelligence not brute strength. I just did some quick research and the fact that Child made the guy 6'5" takes away from Killing Floor.

What were the odds of that old lady having the first of the Reachers? As we know when ya get into a series ya want to start with number one of that series, Yep, got lucky.
Lee Child is a big blues fan like myself, as we know Killing Floor has Reacher in Georgia trying t find out what did happen to legendary Blind Blake, of course he gets off that into another adventure.
