I just assumed Benedict Cumberbatch was the face now that Stark / Cpt. America are gone.

Something tells me Marvel is just going to say "Screw it" and pay Robert Downey Jr. 50 million a picture to be Hologram Tony Stark for 10 minutes each movie.

You just shouldn't be promoting a movie and then tell what is probably the majority of the comic book audience that some movies are specifically not for them for something as stupid as demographic issues.

Yeah, this didn't happen.

dragged demographic selfishness into the MCU.

What does that even mean?

You mean that out of context statement about some Disney movie?

bringing her nonsense into the MCU

Since her movie came out she has literally said nothing controversial. Meanwhile people on the far right have been bitching about her because of an interview where her and Hemsworth were clearly joking

Certainly it did

Her argument was an identity politics argument. A movie with characters of a different demographic should not be criticized by people of a different group. The logic behind this is terrible but she explains it clearly. It wasn't made for them (because they are different).

FWIW this sucks on so many levels. The Wrinkle in Time book was really good and should be enjoyed by people of all demographics. The movie was terrible and only enjoyable if you saw a political purpose from what I can infer.

She ought to be out there broadening her brand. Make the argument that Marvel can have a female Superman that everyone can love and speaks a universally important message

The actress is a loon and the character is overpowered but of course a sequel will be made. No studio would leave that kind of money on the table. I trust Marvel to figure out a compelling Phase 4.

But not squirming and panicking like a scared little bitch like the Scarlett Witch did.

Only way for captain Marvel to work is if she goes bad or SW goes bad and they have to fight each other.

Make CM the bad guy and SW the only being strong enough to stop her because SW is a fan favorite and likable.

The problems with Captain Marvel is the character is flat and being portrayed by an even flatter actress. Her emoting in both Marvel movies was bad enough to make Keanu Reeves look like he over-acts.

Another problem is they made her too powerful. We had Thor and the Hulk, both insanely powerful but both fairly easily handled by Thanos. Having an awesomely powerful villain is good for driving stories, it creates drama and the need for teamwork and creativity to beat him.

Having an awesomely powerful hero makes for a flat story unless you're just wanting to start going by DBZ rules where everyone magically "levels up" to some unknown power level, which then becomes as predictable as it is ridiculous once you and your opponent are smashing whole universes into each other.

At her power level (and Brie's acting ability shown thus far) she's best used as a tool to help drive a story, not at being the subject of the story.

i found the problem.

she is by far the least likable person in the MCU.

I'd follow T'Challa into battle all day, but that chick can get bent.

If you believe this story you are a fool. Cap Marvel made over a billion.

Yea, I tuned DBZ out for this reason. So boring.
They should've had Cap Marvel able to maybe power up to binary mode and be superpowerful but still be able to get hurt by bullets or something...Like Wonder Woman

Scarlet Witch is the true badass.

That will become clear when she bends reality and brings back Vision, and destroys all who try to stop her.

The funny thing is that it really didn’t. Especially if you are speaking about the movie.

You just thought it did because that’s where your head was at due to the actresses off screen comments.

This.

Other than a few shoehorned girl power moments, the movie was benign.

It just wasn't that great a movie. Due in part to Larson's portrayal, but she's performing as they wanted for the movie (otherwise, they'd have reshot it). Definitely lower end for Marvel.

That should've been the top critic quote on the movie poster.
