A remake, a musical, a paint by numbers biopic, and a bunch of low budget niche stuff

The "big" Xmas Day films were a second tier animated video game movie and a vampire horror film that should have been released 2 months ago.

Christmas time is perfect for Nosferatu:

There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago

There were years we’d see a couple movies per month. Now there are just so few movies the family wants to see “in-person.”

2024 was the weakest year I can recall.
I don’t think I saw more than 6 in theaters. My kids went to a couple that I didn’t.

Now with streaming services where a movie could be available to watch at home is just more convenient. People will spend money for their TV and audio setup. No need to go to the theatre and pay ridiculous amount on concessions. Or to deal with people who will either talk or be on their phone while movie is playing.

This is my reason for rarely going to theaters. The movies will be streaming in a few months, I can avoid spoilers for the most part

Even the snow white movie that this board can't stop talking about, I haven't seen any movie spoilers, just know that the zegler chick is snow white and gadot is the villain

Godfather III was released on Christmas Day. One of the reasons it was so bad. They rushed through script writing and edits just to make that deadline.

Rachel has said multiple times that this isn't going to be the 1937 (and very dated) version of Snow White. Snowie will be a little Revolutionista, fighting the patriarchy while she overthrows an evil Queen.

And by 'spoilers', do you mean 'trailers'? Because there's been a couple out now and the CGI for the dwarves looks hilarious. And by that I mean ridiculous.

What do you think Oscar movies have been since the 1950s?

Anora and A Real Pain are the only low budget movies i mentioned. But if you're going to complain about how stale the big stuff is, it's weird to also complain about the crowd-pleasing, original, smaller stuff.

You don't want to see this crop of awards movies, even though it looks like a typical crop. That's fine, but that's very different than you having no options.

Just saw Homestead and it wasn’t 20 percent full.

Boy did that abomination suck.

And you are aware of who distributed Homestead, yes?
