She also had a serious substance abuse issue.
Well she was found dead in her home of acute morphine toxicity just nine days before 9/11. They were never able to determine if the overdose was accidental or deliberate. Either way, most people who knew her believe that the Olympic Park story is what led to her untimely demise.
As I said before, it's too bad she's not around to see this movie.
I don't like to speak ill of the dead, but sometimes karma comes around and nips you in the bud. She abandoned all pretense of journalistic objectivity and led a crusade against Richard Jewell without ever questioning the FBI's evidence against him. Jewell, your average and lovable country bumpkin, had his life ruined by an overzealous law enforcement and media establishment because he was in the right place at the right time.

She was headed in that direction way before her park bombing story.Maybe it accelerated her self destructive behavior but her OD didn't surprise me at all.
She also covered the crime beat for the AJC and knew a ton of LEO's and detectives. They got her out of multiple jams and screwups.

The FBI has been a problem for a lonnnnnng time. Almost since its inception to be honest.
The FBI always has been and continues to be a domestic spying organization used by whomever is in power at the time but ALWAYS against American citizens.

If it just exposed the media for the sensationalists and outright liars they are, it would be a good movie.
Richard Jewell sued the hell out of NBC and CNN

Am I in the minority in people that really enjoyed "The Mule"? I thought it was really entertaining. Excited to catch this one for sure.
I thought The Mule was outstanding.
I guess Clint appeals more to us Baby Boomers than most others.

I wouldn't say that. I'm not a BB but I love Clint flicks. However, the younger generation wouldn't appreciate a film such as Jersey Boys.

Some of it is the type of movies Eastwood directs, but I remember reading once about how he doesn’t film a lot of different takes on scenes and generally wraps up filming quicker than most. He just got reinvolved in film in April or May with filming starting in late June to then premiere in 5 months at AFI. Pushing 90 and still doing them fairly quickly while also seemingly doing them well.

Haven’t seen Jersey Boys. Maybe I should have been more specific and said last 3 films instead of “few”

I’m glad this story is being told for young folks to see. Jewell got screwed so bad, and he was a good guy.
Just shows you that if the government goes for you, and you aren’t a billionaire, you don’t have much of a chance even if Snow White innocent,
People seem to acknowledge this, yet they howl if a jury verdict of guilt is questioned on appeal. The same jury was made up of people too dumb to avoid jury duty-so they say-and the judge was a moron. But damn it, that verdict can’t be questioned.

Eastwood also takes risks on interesting ideas.

Talk about a guy who's life was ruined by fake media and incompetent FBI.
What they did to him was criminal.
