It premiered at AFI Fest yesterday evening and has been getting raves from the media who was in attendance, some of whom have written that the Oscar race has been turned upside down by Clint Eastwood's chronicle of the man who became the center of a storm of negative media coverage in the aftermath of the 1996 Olympic Park bombing.

Paul Walter Hauser, who plays Richard Jewell, is now getting serious Oscar buzz. As are Sam Rockwell and Kathy Bates, who portray Jewell's attorney and mother respectively. Olivia Wilde is said to be the film's main antagonist as Kathy Scruggs (thankfully!) will not be portrayed in a good light at all. She's even shown offering sexual favors in exchange for exclusive stories in one particular scene.

I can't wait to see this film when it's released in theaters next month.

Folks in the previous thread thought that they should've gone with Jonah Hill. I stand by Hauser. He's money.

Dude was great in I, Tonya

The trailer for this does look good and has a great cast, but I’m cautiously optimistic since Eastwood’s last few films have been very meh

Somebody did an awesome documentary that encapsulated the whole right-wing terrorist/crazed media aspects of this back in the 2000's. If it is as good as that documentary I will watch.

Huh? ..... his last five are:

The 15:17 to Paris
The Mule
Sully
American Sniper
Jersey Boys

None of those were "meh" imho.

The media and SJWs are already going after Clint for this one.

"At a time when journalism itself is under attack from a lot of corners, for a movie to fall into this kind of trope and reinforces a false stereotype — it is wrong," says Kevin Riley the current Editor in Chief of the AJC. "It is especially alarming to see it happening in Hollywood. If there is a place where there should be great awareness and sensitivity to how women are treated in their profession, it should be Hollywood."

The AJC deserves everything they get in this film.

We were in attendance the night the bomb went off although we were leaving the area to head back to our room at the Embassy Suites in Buckhead.

By the next morning the AJC was going after the entire Right, all Conservatives, to the point where my wife wrote a letter to the editor, on hotel stationary, calling them out on it.

And the media anti-Right crusade went crazy from that point forward convicting Jewell almost within a day of the bombing ..... the poor guy was eviscerated by the AJC in particular because they felt the need to lead being in Atlanta and they and CNN collaborated on a lot of BS.

No I agree, they wanted, needed to point the finger at someone right away...

But the media also just blindly followed the FBIs lead and when the FBI wasn't talking to the media, the media just speculated and made shite up.

I hope the FBI gets eviscerated because they targeted Jewell from Day 1 and after months, when they realized they had fricked up and wasted all that time and money trying to get Jewell all they said was "he's no longer a suspect."

The other movies are debatable, but you really thought this was a good movie?

Oh no doubt .... the famous "FBI Leak" in this case should have cost someone their job ... but it never did.

Janet Reno/Clinton Justice Department

Ruby Ridge
Waco
Olympic Bombing

.... and I am sure there were others we never heard of.

The FBI has been a problem for a lonnnnnng time. Almost since its inception to be honest.

15:17 to Paris... Below meh... Not good

The Mule... Pretty terrible...

Sully.. True definition of "meh"

American Sniper.. Solid, perfectly timed film

Jersey Boys.. Meh...

So I count 4 out 5 that were "meh" or below.

Am I in the minority in people that really enjoyed "The Mule"? I thought it was really entertaining. Excited to catch this one for sure.

It likely can’t be worse than the Mule so it has that going for it.

One of the worst movies I have seen in many years. Just an old babbling man and a camera.

This doesn't surprise me at all.
She banged my old roommate about year before the Olympics. She also had a serious substance abuse issue.
