Year I started 8th grade at Brother Martin. Forrest Gump was the first non cartoon/non kids live action/non big summer blockbuster type movie I ever saw in theaters.

Okay, I get Forrest has his clothes and haircut that he likes. But, the man is a billionaire. Can someone get him a clean pair of shoes.

Jenny gave those to him....

On another note, has anyone here actually read the book?

Yeah, I didn’t even remember Sandra Bullock was gorgeous or anything. Look at her blushing lips in that pic. She’s stunning.

Some others from ‘94:

Legends of the Fall

Shallow Grave (vastly underrated)

Clerks

Bullets Over Broadway

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (not a huge fan but definitely a cult classic)

‘94 was definitely a good year.

‘39 was the all-time greatest and probably always will be.

All the girls in high school were enamored with this movie and Brad Pitt. All the ones who got knocked up were naming their illegitimate sons Tristan.

I remember when Pulp Fiction came out, and what a phenomenon it was. My brother in law really wanted to see the movie, but my sister hates violence.

She asked me if it contained a lot of violence. Man Law dictated that I help my bro out, "Not really," I told her "Its more of a love story and a movie about a man trying to find his place in the world."

She was so pissed at me after the movie.

I was looking at a list of 1984 movies, and was struck how huge those movies were, and came here to post about it.

But, you're right that 1994 was another iconic year in film. Like 1984, it brought, or reflected, so much cultural change, it impacted our music, clothing style, and many other ways of life.

But, since I'd already done my homework on 1984, though, I'm going to drop this here, rather than start a new thread. I don't mean to tarnish 1994 in any way.

I found it easiest to try to categorize the 1984 movies, rather than just list them. I know I've left off many, many gems. But, there were a ton of movies to watch back back then. I guess it was the VCR era? Anyway, here goes:

Teenage Life (singing/dancing/love)
Sixteen Candles
Breakin’
Footloose

War & Drama
The Bounty
Places in the Heart
The Killing Fields
Red Dawn
The Terminator

Horror
Children of the Corn
A Nightmare on Elm Street

Adventure
Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan
Cloak & Dagger
The NeverEnding Story

SciFi + Comedy
Ghostbusters
Gremlins

Romance
Romancing the Stone
Splash
Against All Odds

Music & Documentary Style
This is Spinal Tap
Purple Rain
Amadeus

Sports
The Natural
The Karate Kid

Silly Adventure & Comedy
Police Academy
Hot Dog… The Movie
Top Secret
Revenge of the Nerds
Beverly Hills Cop

Quiz Show
The Professional
Interview Vampire
Ed Wood
In the Mouth of Madness
Shallow Grave
Santa Clause
Baby's Day out
Madness of King George
Nobody's Fool
No Escape
Cabin Boy
Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly

All better than most of the movies this year.

Summer of 99 had a lot of great movies. I lived at a hotel within walking distance to a theater in 7th grade while our house was built and saw a lot. Star Wars, Matrix, Mummy, Life, Bowfinger, Sixth Sense, Austin Powers, Big Daddy, American Pie, Iron Giant, South Park, Tarzan.
