Pretty sure Indiana was fluent in 12 languages.

No. Temple of Doom had a scene where a man's heart was removed, he was dropped into lava, and his heart burst into flame. That's incredibly ridiculous and over the top.
Still badass though
I know TOD gets a lot of shite, but that was a staple movie of my childhood so I'll always love it

The ones I know he speaks off the top of my head are English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Latin, Greek, Arabic, and sign language.

So basically, Killz failed this thread in every possible way?

That was VERY bad, but is it worse than when Indy swims to and boards a Nazi U-Boat as it's submerging and somehow manages to survive the trek from the mid Atlantic to a Mediterannean island lair?
Yep, it sure is.

Didn't he speak German when collecting tickets on the airship?
Before bizarrely saying "no ticket " in English

The life raft scene in Temple of Doom was pretty absurd.
Switching franchises, the scene at the end of Empire Strikes Back where Luke falls hundreds of feet off of a platform and lands in a chute always seemed ridiculous to me.

Meh... It is very likely that the boat never submerged. U Boats had a top speed while submerged of about 8 knots and a maximum range of less than 100 nautical miles; conversely, while surfaced their top speed was 17-18 knots and a range of up to 10,000 nautical miles.

ill defend Indy till the end, and of course it had some over the top moments.
i watched Temple of Doom yesterday and while i do think its underrated, i did LOL when they jumped out of the plane and feel 1000 or so feet in a raft then another 1000 feet off a water fall and everyone was just fine.

The Indiana Jones movies (sans Crystal Skull) have tons of things going for them, but realism is not one of those things.

If Indy speaks the language, then yes, I failed.
However, the viewer doesn't always get that impression when the director films Indy sometimes speaking the language (poorly) and other times acting as if he shouldn't say a word (the book burning scene). If Indy can speak fluent German, why did he clam up during the Hitler book burning scene? The way that scene was filmed gave the clear impression that he COULDN'T speak the language...or at least he couldn't speak German well.

quote:That one actually makes a lot of sense. It's a giant air shaft in a low orbiting space station. Artificial gravity, air scrubbers, etc. Luke goes into an air shaft, designed likely to pull heavier items away from the circulation system. He get's pulled into a bypass chute and then jettisoned at the bottom of a s trap of pipe.
Empire Strikes Back where Luke falls hundreds of feet off of a platform and lands in a chute always seemed ridiculous to me.

What did you expect him to say to Adolph Hitler, huh? "Gimme my fricking book back you Nazi bastard?"

Given the sound of him being sucked into the chute I always figured there was a vacuum on that tube that actually pulled him into it.

But would this slow his velocity enough so that impact with the side walls of the chute wouldn't break all of his bones?
