but have 100% more in common with gen X. If you went through high school without a cell phone and still used pay phones to get rides but yelled at your parents when they made a call when you were trying to log into AOL, you are likely a Millennial who clearly identifies more with gen x.

Born in 75. I played on an Atari and a ColecoVision.

Movie is fun.

My teenage son loves it. I’m Gen X and enjoyed it but doubt I’ll ever seek it out to watch again.

Superbad

timeless in a way (searching for booze, parties, and girls isn't going anywhere), but still representative of the millenial generation.

they have phones, but there are service issues ("Piece of shite frickin' phone. I get one bar everywhere I fricking go. I'm gonna bitch slap you so fricking hard."). no texting or social media really.

perfect encapsulation of the time for me

The suspension of disbelief that a 97 lb pencil-neck could kick arse on these guys is a bit much.

I'm 56 - tail end of Baby Boomers-- and enjoyed the heck out of it. Liked the music, too.

Movie was as funny as all hell. Quotable funny lines almost on par with Anchorman.

who would've thought back then that 4 people in that movie would play super heroes and the one that had already been in superman would be the 3rd most famous at best

Lots of super-hero connections:

Mary Elizabeth Winstead - Huntress in Birds of Prey, and Royal Pain in Sky High
Chris Evans - Human Torch AND Captain America
Brandon Routh - Superman AND The Atom in the Arrowverse
Brie Larsen - Captain Marvel
Aubrey Plaza - Lenny/Shadow King in Legion TV show
Michael Cera - voiced Robin the the LEGO Batman movie
Mae Whitman - voiced Lois Lane, Batgirl, and Wondergirl all at various times

The movie is 100% millenial just because it has a few late 80s references doesn't make it Gen X. All the characters in the movie are millenials for fricks sake

No shite. We were influenced by the 80s, but subtly it’s much more Millennial. Just because it does a bunch of Zelda jokes doesn’t mean it’s 80s.

Superbad

That one went through my head before posting this. Yes, before the iPhone and with cell phones that’s the perfect movie. I remember having a conversation in high school about a hot chick that got breast reduction and saying “That’s like slapping God across the face.” and then my friend’s rebuttal being “She had back problems, dude. Plus the surgeons well rounded them and her body is better than ever.” Superbad was very, very accurate being in high school in the early to mid-2000s.
