I don’t think Fonz was supposed to be high school age when it started. He even lived by himself above the Cunningham’s.

Olivia Newton-John was 29 when grease was filmed.

I always thought he was a believable 70s high schooler in that movie. One, I feel like high schoolers were manlier back then and two, there was always one friend who was a beard growing old looking bastard in the group.

He definitely looks noticeably older than everyone else

except for Wooderson

Which is kinda funny since Jensen is five years older than McConaughey.

Isn't it common for actors who aren't teenagers to play a teenager in a movie?

One of the JTP guys on the Goldbergs (the short one) is 35.

I always noticed that, but figured since his character was such a goofball that he probably got held back a few grades . They all look way old though to be teenagers imo, but that is pretty uniform for movies about high schoolers, especially back then. I am just praying that no-one tries to remake this movie and frick with its legacy.

The Andrea Zuckerman actress was already enrolled in Medicare B before she ever stepped foot in the Peach Pit.

I’m pretty sure she’s complained about the internet age (Wiki & IMDB) knowing so much about actors, listing ages and whatnot. She wouldn’t have gotten that part had people known her actual age or something.

On topic:
Sasha Jensen was also a high schooler in the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” film about that same time. Ben Afleck was also in “Buffy,” as was Hillary Swank.

To be fair its a musical.

I mean Peter Pan has a history of 30 year old women playing a young boy.

Leisel was "16 actually going on 23" in the Sound of Music.

If you could sing on Broadway it didn't matter how old you were and that translated to film.

I could watch that movie today and he wouldn't seem out of place. I never for a second thought that the actor was too old for the role.

He's the one that reminds me of me, in D&C. Silly, yes, but he was flirting with teachers. I always thought he would have been a great teammate. Would keep the guys loose, but play his butt off.

I had a January birthday, but was only 18 when I graduated. Also started shaving my chin in 6th grade. Wore overalls back then too.

I think the flip side of old playing young is Rebecca Hall playing old in Iron Man 3. She plays a scientist who had a relationship with Tony in 1999 (she was already world famous as a scientist in 1999) when Hall herself was born in 1982.

There's always one or two kids who look older. Some were clearly held back, but I remember one guy who looked and acted like he could have been in his early 20's. Sideburns, 5 o'clock shadow, it was weird then and a even more weird now that I think about it. No idea what became of him though.

Heard he grew up to be just as much of a dbag in real life as he was in the movie.
