Is it just me or is the HBO Max interface mediocre?

Very first world problems here but I think the interface for HBO Max is garbage. It takes FOREVER to scroll through any lists of movies or tv shows. Unlike Netflix or prime where you can glide through, HBO is like on a 2 second delay when you click to go to the next movie. And the list of featured movies doesn’t move along with you, so by the time you get to the end you have to go one by one slowly for each movie. It makes using the app and browsing for something to watch a chore and is not user friendly at all.
Like I said I know this is first world problems but you would think that with millions pumped into an app to compete with Netflix and Prime that the interface would be somewhat coherent.

Their library outweighs their interface issues. Warner Bros./HBO is literally the most impressive film/TV library ever.
Quick question though, why isn't E.R. available on HBO Max? It's technically an Amblin/Warner Bros. co-production, so Spielberg has a say in it. But I would think it would be a prime HBO Max title.

Use the phone app to browse, then cast it to the tv.

Hmm.
I can never find anything worth watching on it.

The film noir/ganger movies of the 30s and 40s?
The Clint Eastwood movies of the 70s and 80s?
Batman movies?
South Park?
Rick and Morty?
The Sopranos?
Silicon Valley?
The Wire?

My problem with HBO Max is that my TV doesn't have an app for it (yet). I use the app on my phone and cast to the TV, which works well enough for the most part.
It doesn't seem to work for new release movies though. For some reason it just gets in a loop where it connects to the tv, then times out as soon as it starts playing. It happened with the Judas movie and more recently with Justice League. I was able to get JL playing the other day by skipping through the preview on my phone, and then casting once the actual movie started. That hadn't worked before, so I'm not sure if it was a fluke or an actual workaround to the issue.
Gonna be pissed if I can't watch Godzilla vs Kong on the big TV on Wednesday.

I dunno - i have no issue with it - it is as easy to navigate for me, as Disney and Hulu is.

User interface is pretty milquetoast but it’s super buggy and laggy on the non Xbox app still so it drags it down even more so
Netflix is the only streaming service out there will a really good interface IMO

I have already seen all of this.

I've already seen a lot of these and my wife isn't going to be even remotely interested in that.
I'm talking about New Releases which to me are always really lacking.

Kind of a weird complain since they are the platform that puts out a large studio movie every month on its platform

The purple color they use to highlight your selection annoys me. That color, with the dark background, its hard for me to tell when option I'm on. So I'm constantly moving it around so that I can actually see what I'm highlighting.

I hear you, this is more of a "me" situation. I'm not interested in the big tentpole movies to watch on HBOMax, I find more to watch, personally, on Netflix and Amazon.
I get why people love HBO Max, I'll just say that I have a hard time finding things.

mediocre is generous but some good stuff on there.

Mediocre is putting it kindly.
It's slow, clunky, and buggy as all get out.
It's a trash UI and one of the worst out of all the paid streaming services. The only two I dislike more are Apple+ and Amazon and that's main b/c they are always trying to redirect me into buying content. Minus that major annoyance they are both better UIs as well.
As a longtime HBO subscriber I don't understand how they created a worse UI than HBOGo/HBONow which was already mediocre and outdated 5 years ago.

Netflix has the best UI hands down. I love their preview of the show/movie that starts playing if you aren't scrolling. HBO Max has an amazing library but looks really outdated.

The volume is WAY TO LOW

It doesnt help that all of these streaming services are coming out in the Covid era where basically no movies are being released.
