Is House M.D. considered a "good" TV series?

It's always been one of my favorite TV series by far. I don't know a lot of people that have watched it much though. Just curious of the general consensus.
And of course Cuddy

It is consistent and entertaining.
Each episode can pretty much stand on its own.

Extremely formulaic. Mystery illness discovered, a wrong diagnosis is given, House figures it out and fixes it.

True, but the character story lines did keep the show more entertaining than just formulaic medical save the day stuff.

Pretty damn enjoyable and... Cuddy

It's good for what it is. I like Hugh Laurie as an actor. I think the whole medical drama thing is pretty played out though. It's essentially law and order.

First 3 seasons are one of the better runs in TV history for me. The rest was ok with 2 to 3 memorable episodes a season (Ugly was amazing).

It isn't a very good template for how to practice medicine but it was entertaining. House is one of the more likable assholes in recent tv history.

I like the show a lot, but only really watch it because it's a good one for me to go to sleep to, since if you miss one you don't have to rewatch.
His live/die patient ratio is ridiculous though. Like probably less than 10 patients die throughout the entire series.
It is also somewhat annoying that in every single episode the patient has a seizure and the possibility is always deep bone thrombosis and two others that I can't remember off of the top of my head.
SPOILERS
Also, Cameron is the most annoying character ever. She's a bitch for getting mad at the husband who leaves his wife because she's dying from an STD that she got having an affair and also for leaving Chase after he killed that African dictator.

I started watching it in college because my roommate did. I liked it at first, but I gave up on it when it got all relationshipy and people started banging one another.

Should I watch the last couple of seasons? I gave up after the first few seasons. It just got repetitive for me.

The last few seasons were bad enough that I stopped watching, but it had a long run and prior to that it did pretty well. The regular changing out of the underlings seemed like a weird gimmick at first but it actually worked to keep the show fresh.

I feel like they left a lot on the table with House's character, you caught glimpses of just how deep his brilliance goes medical knowledge aside. For instance, when some foreign person would start speaking around him he would engage them in their native tongue and then play it off to people around him by saying he guessed or he saw it on some cartoon. He was well versed on minuscule nuggets throughout history and even had knowledge of practices and beliefs within many cultures and religions but he would always play that off as well.
I held out hope that they would spin the show off and House would pop up in some third world country diagnosing bird flu and treating it with dirt and sewer water, but nobody knew who he was...just some brilliant old man

Earlier seasons were really good, towards the end it got bad, after they replaced a bunch of characters it really dropped off

Absolutely this. There was definitely a major drop off from season 3 onward, but the season finales from that point forward were usually among the best of the series (i.e. "House's head"/"Wilson's Heart" and "Help me")
I had to quit watching after House crashed his car into Cuddy's house and he went to jail though. By that point every redeemable part of the show had evaporated. I still need to watch the series finale because i haven't gotten around to it yet.

When he was in jail was some of the best episodes.

Depends on whether or not you believe it is or is not lupus.
