While I do think season 7 was a lot of fan fiction, Littlefinger’s death was incredibly palatable for me. He had played the Starks since Ned’s imprisonment and through Sansa’s anger at him for Ramsay’s and Bran’s knowledge of his betrayals they were able to play him back. He was a GOAT villain but I don’t think there’s any other way for him to go out other than being a little bitch.

I just have such a huge problem with Sansa having to be given a cheat sheet to kill him. She should have figured it out on her own. There were opportunities to do this, but the showrunners just decided to make LF a retard Season 5 on. It’s why I was pretty vocal a few seasons ago that LF needed to massacre Jon’s army in Battle of the Bastards. If he didn’t, then he’d lose his power and become irrelevant, which he did. LF should be an endgame villain, but the writers didn’t know what to do with him.

While I can think of worse ways for him to go, Arya slitting his throat with (I think) the same knife he held to Ned’s throat when he betrayed him was some poetic justice.

This may be the book reader in me, but LF has no more direct connection to Arya than Rickon. LF is Sansa’s target. I don’t think they have a single scene together in the books, and there’s no way she kills him if that fat tub of shite somehow writes it. I’m confident he goes down to that specific knife in Winterfell to a daughter of Ned Stark, but that is the only thing the book death will have in common.

He couldn’t get Sansa if he did that. He may be a lot of things but the power of Tully P has a lot of pull on him.

I will say this. Stansa has been in 4 “relationships” and 3 of them have been evil bastards. While I think they’re trying to show her growing as a character (poorly) she’s arguably had the worst mental torture of any of the Starks.

I’m actually pulling for her to end up with Tyrion. He’s the kindest man in her life.

If he had the proper enforcers and got his paws on Rickon he could. It was my theory going into the episode, it was wrong, but it was the way for LF to become an endgame villain I was hoping for.

I do think she’ll have a Beauty and the Beast arc. The most handsome and originally kind people to her were her biggest monsters, while the deformed and ugly were the people who were genuinely kind to her.

A popular theory is that her and Sandor are in love.

Yeah, it takes one single stab with a small knife in the back from a girl to drop him. A big guy like that wielding a giant ax could’ve taken 20 stabs and still fight.

Things in general are getting rushed and kind of thrown together in these later seasons. Pretty noticeable decline generally after the show passed up the books. I'm still committed though.

That was one of my biggest gripes starting during season 5, they skipped a lot of story to get to killing Jon for a cliffhanger that we knew wouldn't stick (and would honestly be more shocking had they not brought him back in season 6).

I really thought they did a good job pacing everything up to season 5 but then they just started running trying to pass the books. I'm curious if they had given Martin another year before going ahead of him, if he would have put out the next book to stay in front of them.

As the series closes to an end, they have to consolidate stories and get rid of huge swaths of story so abrupt deaths aren't going to stop with Littlefinger. I think when Littlefinger goes, he will be pleading for his life similar to the way they did, that is his personality to try to survive to the end.

All supposedly in the last books.

0% chance LF goes out like that in the books. GRRM actually respects the character and would never do something so silly.

This is his baby. Of course he’s not going to ruin it. Sure, he told the ending to D&D. But how to get there is a different story. Imagine if Vince Gilligam did breaking bad up to S3 and someone else did S4-S5. Of course, there will be a decline in quality even if Gilligan tells the new showrunner “Heisenberg dies in a meth Lab”.

I think D&D we’re excited with the show in the beginning and lost their passion towards the end. It did take a lot out of them. Look at Beneoff face before and after GoT. It’s night and day. No one ages like that normally.

I think GoT should’ve been 10 seasons of 10 episodes for the proper adaptation. Hell, GRRM said there was enough material for 12 seasons.

And I’m not even a book snob. I watched the show then read the books back in 2011. I remember being excited for each season, rewatching trailers, reading forums, leaning about theories, getting to know backstories. Heck, I was telling friends and relatives about the show.

Not so much hype about S8. But, I’m on the train this long, got to stick it to the end.
