i don't think it's pop culture at all. I wore a GOT costume to our company costume contest and only about 10 people know who I was. Only the people who watch knew me.

read a good article about how it's changing television because a) the grand production and b) the fact that its popularity is in a genre that is not popular at all

Spartacus has done well, but not nearly as well as GoT is doing.

Quality programming is quality programming. If something is good enough to get people invested in it, the genre is immaterial. Obviously GOT is good enough to transcend genre, just like plenty of other shows have been in the past.

Most people don't have HBO and will never see this show. Including me.

I was going to ask if she's hot, but I suppose a more polite way of asking is: "Did she dress up as Daenerys or Brienne?"

Yeah but as time goes on it is getting bigger and bigger. It will eventually be very mainstream and get all cookie cutter on us.

Nah, I don't keep up with OT IM threads. Had a feeling she was a cutie, but it could be her avatar brainwashing me.

It's already bigger than I thought it would get. People on my FB that have never been interested in such a genre are getting into it. I could see it reaching (and maybe surpassing) Sopranos level.

Well there are DVD and bluray sales. Not to mention it is the most pirated TV show of all time.
