re: Is Big Bang Theory the Best Sitcom in the past 10 years?

Parks and Community require a lot more viewer involvement. Need to know more from past episodes, catch lightning-fast obscure references, and actually have a decent sense of humor.
That's why ratings are low...and why TBBT's ratings are higher in later seasons, when the humor started to deteriorate.

This is pathetic

WSE, you're absolutely correct, but that's deplorable. I can excuse viewer involvement, that's definitely true. I don't want to believe the "decent sense of humor" part. It's probably true, though. Sad.

Think about how many "smart" comedies like P&R and Community (or Arrested Development, the beacon for failed smart comedies) have been highly praised by critics, but have been largely ignored in ratings.
A large number of people watch TV for escapism. They don't want to have to think a good bit, especially while watching a sitcom. They want humor they know...the tried and true...stuff that anyone can pick up and get.

No, I live in Auburn.

Thursday Line up -
1) Parks and Rec
2) Community
3) The Office
4) The Big Bang Theory.
I don't care what ratings say. That is the truth. Community has shot itself in the foot, along with being severely hindered by NBC. Community needs to be on Netflix Instant. They must really underestimate the power that Netflix has to increase exposure to younger viewers.

Is Les going to explain his comment or no?

You're not generally a troll (or at least I don't think so), so I'm confused by this entire thread. Give shows a chance from the onset.

I have never seen BBT, so it is possible I am just talking out of my arse. But I would bet its funniest episode is worse than the least funny episode of Arrested Development.

If you meant worst instead of best, then yes.

Since Frasier ended in 2004, I'd say no. I don't think I would put it above Scrubs either.

Wow...really? At least some of the TV snobs on here have actually seen some of the show.

I like the show. I watch reruns on TBS all the time.

BBT has its moments, but Himym, Sunny, and the Office blow it out the water
