Then why didn't they?
Because that's not what Joss Whedon wrote?

The X Men 3 comparison has more to do with the ending and how it seems to be trying to kill off the franchise. But neither movie was very good and I have no intention of watching them again.

I love how they expect us to believe Favreau looked that old 14 years ago. That was only 2 years after Swingers.

On the suits stuck in a bunker thing. Yall seem to forget that Jarvis was down. He couldn't get the suits activated until Jarvis was online.
As to why the suits got their asses kicked, each suit is a new version. A lot of those suits had special purposes, so he probably didn't try and make each one as badass as the main suits. I.E. the big suit that acted like a foundation pillar.

Considering the main suit he used during the movie didn't fly half the time and didn't have the weapons installed yet, I certainly see a lot fo them as tinkering stuff. And also remember that half of the suits were probably build while he had been awake for days.

They baited and switched the audience. I don't necessarily mean just the Mandarin twist, I mean the whole tone. The trailers lead movie goers to believe the movie was going to be tonally different...darker, more real risk to Tony, actual loss, etc. Instead...we got the idiotic twist with the Mandarin, him doing his PTSD routine which always seemed to be less serious because of RDJ's comedic timing than they seemed to mean it to be, his palling around with the kid in Tennessee, etc. I realize they could not have given away the Mandy twist in the trailers...but why even use that character if you're going to neuter him like that? Why make the trailer that tone if what you're going to do is something totally different? See the trailers for Man of Steel. If it turns out the actual movie is full of one liners and slap stick comedy like portions of the Richard Donner Supes movies were, I'm going to be pissed...because they've primed me to expect something else. Same here. This movie could have been really epic, and instead it was as Tony Stark described himself to Pepper early in the movie...a hot mess.
Still didn't hate it, but it's my least favorite of the Marvel movies to date.
Well done.
The trailers would have you thinking one thing and then you see something different when you actually see the movie. I don't like that at all.

I guess I'm glad I actively avoided the trailers then.

Yeah they cut the trailers to make it seem like Tony gets his arse kicked while he is at full strength - him laying down in the snow. Too bad nothing that exciting happens.

Have his suits do damage to public property, get the public to question hi
Like how? Maybe destroying air force one and taking the president hostage?

Can someone explain to me the screen when we see the inside of Iron Man's helmet. How the hell is there so much space when the helmet is so close to his face?

Went and saw this with the wife the other day and thought it was incredibly overrated. I enjoyed the first two much better. I would have liked to have seen some of the other prototypes in action more since they brought them in the picture. Best part of the movie was the previews(can't wait for Thor 2) and my chili cheese French fries.

quote:idk if this was explained yet but his bunker was under tons of rubble. He was waiting for the demo crew to uncover the vault door.
Like some other folks, I don't understand why he spent so much time screwing around with the one suit and then going all James Bond with home made weapons when he could have just ordered his spare suits.

quote:I thought his last couple lines of saying he "doesnt need to be Ironman anymore but that is who he is now" meant he will rebuild and continue being badass.
My only problem is that this isn't a closed off movie universe like TDKR was where the end is the end. I know Tony is back for The Avengers 2, but how? He's walked away. He's not Iron Man anymore. He gave up the suits, he gave up his past. So what now for him?

I watched Iron Man 3 last night with the family.
I thought it was easily the worst of the 3 Iron Man movies.
In addition to a poor plot it was very cheesy even for a comic book movie.

I'm an ironman fan but was disappointed in this movie.

I didn't like it either. I almost left at the end when Pepper was fighting the main villain. Waste of money.

it was a fun enjoyable movie to watch with friends. it was shallow, dumb, and cheesy. but a lot of fun to watch

Just watched the movie.
I feel sort of cheated right now, but I need to watch it again.
So is he "claiming" to retire? Though we know he isn't.
Is there actually a medication that can rejuvenate body parts now?
Is there any other fire breathing people around?
I feel there are a bunch of holes in this plot that need filling.
frick, I just didn't like it that much.
