I know it's in my title, but I'm using a specific reference used by one of the top reviews.

The point is that this new movie stands up to the best Pixar has had. This is exciting considering the "Up and Down" (pun intended) recent releases we've gotten. Cars 2, Brave, Monsters University... weren't close to top tier.

Up is certainly in the bottom half of best Pixar movies. Inside Out looks pretty good. Nothing to get too hyped about, though.

This seems to be Pixar's most ambitious project since WALL-E, a bunch of high mind concepts, and a girl dealing with depression. That excites me and it is supposedly also really funny, but I'm not sure if really little kids will understand it. A 7 year old shoud no problem though.

Am I the only one that considers Wall-E Pixar's best?

I've never seen Up, but Wall-E is my favorite.

And Wall-E just chases a fembot. And Mike and Sully just try to return a girl to her room. Any movie can be "just x."

It was just my opinion.. but I tried using that formula for the Incredibles, and it didn't really work: The Incredibles is just a family with superpowers who have to rescue their dad from a self-proclaimed hero who wants revenge on his childhood role model.

Does not compute. Toy Story 3 was better than up.

You're wrong. Up is easily the best Pixar movie and should have won best picture in 09.

The incredibles and toy Story are also better than toy Story 3.

Apparently, I'm just out of step with everyone's Pixar opinions, but I really liked Brave. But I think the reason it does poorly on this board is that it is about mothers and daughters, and this board skews pretty heavily towards dude films (which is why the board overrates the Incredibles, which is a fun superhero adventure film, but not top tier Pixar)

TOP TIER
Toy Story 3
Finding Nemo
Monsters, Inc
Wall-E

My exact top tier list.

Toy Story 3 is a phenomenal escape film with an incredible villain. Might be the best motion picture Pixar ever created.
