In case anyone cares, America's Got Talent officially sucks now

Of all the amazing acts: danger acts, acrobats, magicians, etc. 3 of the top 5 were singers, and the winner was a poet. BORING.

Leake, who was the first spoken word performer on the show, was given the Golden Buzzer by Howie Mandel in an earlier round. He performed pieces about the Black Lives Matter movement, family and loss.
"This is a huge win for the spoken-word community," Leake said Wednesday during the two-hour season finale. "For an art form that has not been on the mainstream ever to have a chance to win 'America's Got Talent' is bigger than anything."
He beat the competition, taking home the $1 million prize and headliner status for an "AGT" show in Las Vegas.

It became pointless the moment they started letting acts from other country’s perform on the show. It’s America’s got talent. Not America’s Got Talent Flown in from the Soviet Bloc.

Many other countries have their own "Got Talent" shows. Acts who had performed on those are now coming here. It's like they're saying, "We aren't good enough to win in our country but we think we're good enough to win here."
I have a few gripes about the show.
1. It has become a stage for personal drama. Every act has to have some hardship drama story to go along with it. Are we supposed to "grade" your talent differently because of your hardship?
2. The "judges" have gotten to the point where they pass the buck on the major decisions to the public, where it becomes nothing more than a popularity show, not a talent show.
I liked it the first few seasons because they had some unusual acts, but I haven't watched many episodes in the last few years.

i always thought it was dumb they allowed singers through at all. there are like 19 different reality singing competitions and the "singers" on AGT always seemed lame and not nearly as talented as what is on other shows (mainly because they always involved a gimmick of backstory, age, etc.)
i also hated any kid auditions...just because you can do something at a young age, but not as talented as an adult, doesn't mean you should get to "go through". no one is going to vegas to see a little kid dance group

Watched this for many years, almost quit last year, but gave it a shot again this time. We quit after the 3rd or 4th audition episode. They jumped the shark real bad, and we walked away. After seeing this post and who the winner was, looks like we made the right decision.

fricking this. I don’t care about your Tom Rinaldi/Sarah McLachlan sob story. If you have an interesting story, great. That dude who won a few years back - Landau - had a little bit of an interesting story. Dude worked the late shift at a car wash and listened to old Sinatra and similar artists’ records to pass the time and eventually started singing along to them and then he decides to go on AGT and boom.
And for frick’s sake, no more damn street dance groups or choirs. They are all the same and do absolutely nothing worth paying $99 for a decent seat to watch in Vegas for 2 and a half hours.

I usually enjoy this show, but I could not even finish the finale this season..

The dude who won last season (Kodi Lee) was incredible. I thought he won, because of his story.. but nah.. he is one of the most deserving winners of any talent show I've ever seen.
