I used to love AGT, but it’s really gone down hill the last few years.

Well there it is.

AGT more than American Idol seemed to drift to that realm where EVERYONE had to have a story about hardship.
I was born blind, my Mom is addicted to crack, I was picked on in school, I have a million phobias, my dog, everyone I know has cancer, etc.
There was this one girl who claimed she couldn't even speak or sing in public and that she was OCD/phobia just like Howie Mandel...and it turned out she had been on American Idol the year before but missed the cut and so concocted this story for AGT.
It seems like everyone made up stuff to come in with some angle to compensate for their lack of talent.

Well AGT people want those stories too. They love it if some contestant has some sob story and a little bit of talent.

last season (Kodi Lee) was incredible.

he is one of the most deserving winners of any talent show I've ever seen
Kenichi was the most talented human in AGT history.
Fighting Gravity was the next. . .and they didn't even win.

That dude who won a few years back - Landau - had a little bit of an interesting story.
I remember that guy's "debut" act on the show. I'm 100% sure the judges were expecting some kind of rap song. He broke out in one hell of a Sinatra song and every judge had to pick their jaw up off the floor. The expressions on their faces were hilarious.

For sure. I actually wasn't watching quite that far back.
