I binged this over the weekend, damn what a ride! The acting was solid but the dubs sometimes seemed to lack enough emotion and definitely lacked atmospheric context (like echos when young Helge was in at the foot of the stairs in his home, there should have been a slight echo due to the size and all the hard surfaces). There also seemed to be some pacing issues I couldn't quite put my finger on. The heavy theme on the music needs to be scaled back a bit (not every scene needs a heavy, dramatic score).
The casting they did for the kids and their adult counterparts were pretty damned good, Hannah's and Katarina's especially.
The story was very creative and they've thought things out far in advance although I worry that the S2 ending was a bit like LOST before they figured out what their eventual ending was going to be, when and thus how to write toward it.

I actually thought Dark took a step down while OA took a big step up this summer. Kind of put them on even footing for me now. Both are fantastic shows.

I have 3 episodes left so I’m not reading anything in here till I finish but I love it so far. It somehow makes you feel like you know what’s going to happen but still remains extremely compelling and full of twists and turns.

everyone says to watch in in German with the english subtitles.
I could'nt do that. I might as well just read a book as i spend more time reading than watching what's happening when i tried this.
Yeah the english dubbing sucks, but i don't even notice it after a while b/c i'm paying attention to what's going on to intently to care.

The English dub is terrible but it allows me to dick around on the computer and do other things. the final season is being filmed right now which means we get an actual ending instead of crap like Walking Dead and Lost that just go on for far too long.

I find it actually makes you pay more attention. As the poster below you said, he couldn't follow it while using his computer. This isn't the kind of series you can follow and enjoy with divided attention.

I think I'm about the opposite. I'm about 6-7 episodes in, and I have no desire to continue.

Subtitles is the way to go. You get nine of the emotion with the dubbed version

One of the best scores Ive heard in a show.

Wife and I are watching with subtitles. Dubs suck arse b/c you lose a lot of the actor's performance when it's another person's voice.

Dubbed is never the way to go for any show.

I think I would understand what’s going on in this show the same amount with or without subtitles. I’m on season 2 and still lost AF

We watched in English dub and subtitles. The subtitles are based on the German dialogue from what I could tell as it didn't always match the English dialogue.
It's just easier to do this as I didn't have to constantly keep reading the tv.
